I did a thing, GK Tech 1.75" steel sphere on a 1320 Performance 3" brass extender. Between the 5X Racing bronze shifter bushing kit, Red Line MTL, and this I'm now a very happy girl:

One more thing, because having these be the only chrome pieces triggers my OCD.

Nice! Won't it get hot though in the sun? I remember my brother had something similar in his prelude and he always kept a beanie around to cover when it was summer outside cause it'd be hotter than a pan cooking eggs.

Hmm, the aluminum voodoo knob never got hot so I can't say. The car spends most all of its time in the garage or being driven, so not much time for the Sun to heat it up.

Welp, another car accident in the intersection and another car kisses the building at work.

Oh. It's a '94 MX-3 1.6 5-speed, has 160K miles on it. Needs the valve stem seals replaced, only really major issue. Have the parts, just need the tools now. Trying to find a metric valve keeper remover and installer that isn't tied into a kit that forces you to get the standard one too.

Seems like an engine swap would be the correct repair. Maybe something with a little more displacement or boost. B6T swap maybe?
Nearing 200K on the 626 btw, no issues except a bad water pump again and a popped radiator and the alternator finally died.

It's otherwise healthy though, and stem seals is a lot cheaper and easier than swapping engines. It's to get her to work and back, a stepping stone until she can afford a nice SC or whatever.

I was doing a little reading on the B6 engines and evidently in some markets they got a pretty robust air/oil separator but not in NA however there's still a bung on the back of the block for it so it's pretty easy to add one to the vehicle. How did you land on valve seals as the issue? Oil smoke at startup or oil smoke under acceleration after idling? If it's the later it *could* be a PCV system issue sucking oil into the intake at idle and then under acceleration pulling it into the engine to burn, especially if it's worse after extended idling. How's compression on the engine? Excess blow by can overwhelm the PCV, sticky rings will certainly cause smoking too. I've had pretty good luck not having ring issues in my Mazda but it's always seen regular oil changes and a few years ago I did a series of piston soaks and some through the intake de-carb as well so that may have helped clean up gunk forming around the rings and valves. I do hope it's just valve seals but it's not a bad idea to explore the other possibilities before dedicating the time to doing the seals. Going to use air to hold the valves up? How old is the timing belt? I'm on my 2nd timing belt and water pump, both times for leaking water pumps but both times also found the belt stretched at least 1/2 tooth off time by around 60-80K miles.

Oil smoke when cold, stops once warmed up. PCV valve has already been replaced. Looking at the plugs they're not cakey like with rings, just a ring of carbon on the ground body and the electrode and ground strap are clean aside from some burn residue.

Also yes, plan to compress the cylinders with air to hold the valves.

New glasses!

Solid plan! Catch can it anyway tho,you got the bung for it to self drain to the crankcase.

Glasses look nice on you, still going by Casey or did you pick something new? I mean you're kind of forever Box to me ❤️.

Maybe if she decides to turbo it with B6T parts later on, though she likes the idea of the KL-ZE V6 as well.

Thankies! Still Casey, it's unisex so I haven't felt compelled to change it. Have thought about it though, Violet would be a nice fit I think. Hehe. 💜

Violet does have a nice ring to it, little less tomboy than Casey.
KLZE is like unobtanium and I hear it's a dick to work on/with. Worked on some KL 626 and they are cramped leaky engines.

200 hp out of the box though, that's like twice as much!

B6T does 130 out of the box and a heck of a lot more when lightly massaged, easily adding 50% more power/torque to a fairly light weight traction limited FWD car which would be just plenty unless all she wants to do are highway rolling races with it. If you're doing crazy stuff may as well swap in a KJ-ZEM and cut a hole in the hood for it to fit and to duct fresh air to the intercoolers.

I figured a B6T exhaust manifold and downpipe, maybe the intake manifold, along with a modern T25 turbo and intercooler would be more than enough to have fun in.

Then some kind of piggyback ECU since don't plan to go too crazy on boost.

Pretty sure you'll want a B6T ECU and harness to run that right, I recall the non T ECU is pretty dumb about boost and for what a boost capable piggyback, sensors, wiring, and Dyno time will cost..I bet the T and wiring is the same or less. Plus I'm pretty sure you can flash roms on the T for tuning.
