Damn 2500.....I wish I could find a manual GT for that much, would be an awesome project car.
And another thing I dont see what would be difficult about a V6 configuration? I mean if people can cram a v8 into a mk1 mr2 I dont see how hard that would be in a celica. Inline 6 on the other hand....

I've also seen a bunch of 94-99 Eclipses with 6 cylinders as well on Autotrader. Maybe they just didn't release those versions to the public, or maybe there is just some huge government conspiracy...
