Last night was a very good night I must say. Normally I pay 210$/month for Insurance, and my License and Record are both clean. Thats alot of money for a 97 Celica, so much its ridiculous. So my friend told me he guaranteed me he could get me the same coverage Insurance for 120$/month. As of next month (i'm in my 3 months free right now with current Insurance Group), I will be saving almost 500$ every 6 months in insurance, which is perfectly fine for me! Sorry i'm just so excited over something so stupid

Ok anyways, I was talking to a my friend Mike who knows a bunch of kids that do nothing but swap Honda's and Acura's ALL THE TIME. For 1,000$ they will get me a 3S-GTE with under 40k miles (hopefully), Install the GT Tranny, Axle's and Motor Mounts and Swap it. 750$ for the 3S-GTE, and about 350$ for the Labor. So with that in mind, i've decided to go 3S-GTE instead of 4AGZE. If anyone lives in the Central Pennsylvania area and might be interested in a Swap, let me know. I might be able to hook you up.

These guys put a VTECH Head on a MR2 Turbo.

sounds too good to be true. but if it works out, damn man, thats a hell of a deal. good luck, and let us know how what happens.

btw: good call on a 3SGTE instead of a 4AGZE. the 4A is a great engine but no other Toyota engine compares to the 3S.

what gen of 3s is that? I would guess 1st but that's not bad. 200hp and the potential for far more for only $1000.

I'm going to have to pay for the Axle, Tranny, and Motor Mounts obviously, so I guess the complete price for everything will be around 2g's.. but 350$ for install is pretty damn good compared to what my mechanic wanted, $1000. I guess it pays to know people.

Lemme know how this all turns out, i might consider if it turns out pretty good. Im in Jersey, so its not that far, and i have a GT, so it should swap for less than an ST since the tranny/engine mounts, etc. all coincide.........I guess its something to keep in mind, maybe.

Where in central PA is this? I live 45 minutes north west of Phila in Pottstown. If you could tell me the place I can get this done that would be freakin splendid.

That sounds like a great deal man, I'd love to stop by after yours is done and see what they can do for me. I'm in Central Jersey by Trenton so it wouldn't be too far of a drive and for something like that it would definately be worth it. But it does sound a little too good to be true so keep us all updated on how the situation progresses, i'm sure everyone will want to know. Best of luck

dude, be careful. honda and acura swaps are a lot easier, because you don't have to change the wiring harness at all. hondas just bolt and drop in. i'd make sure they know how to do that before you get started. i've heard of acura/honda swap shops taking in a toyota swap and just completely messing it up, and then your car is in pieces in a shop that doesn't know how to fix it. bad.

that would explain the low price, they don't think they have to do anything with the harness.

Charlie, I understand exactly what your talking about bro. But this isn't a shop - shop like a public garage. Its a bunch of friends that have their own garage that do the swaps themselves. They said they worked on many MR2's etc, but i'll make sure I talk to them in depth before I tell them to go ahead.

either way the engine he's getting is for pretty cheap, he could always have the labor done by someone else

That's an awesome deal, but be careful! Let us know what happens with everything.

My friend has a 96 civic that had a b16 and a charger in it- he blew the motor about 2 months ago and just had a new b16 mounted into it.. same engine but different year. the shop which is know as one of the only shops in the US to do complete turbo kits on corvettes did his swap for him and they had a bitch of a time gettin all of the wiring harness to install onto the new motor... I actually just saw the car back on the road today so I guess they got it all worked out... newayz toyota swaps are alot harder to do than honda/acura swaps though

yep, you are right, there are some complications with certain honda swaps, thanks for clarifying what I said. good stuff!

no prob... you where right tho they are pretty easy to do


edit: and there cheaper than $h*t!! my friend that I talked about before got his new b16 for 800 bucks! If 3sgte's where that cheap I would probably go through one a year!

Question, before you guys swap these engines, do you re-build them?

Wow, that's pretty cheap... and pennsylvania isn't that far away... maybe a 3-4 hour drive....

yea like FallenHero said, do you build these engines up at all before you drop them in? I would think you might as well get the engine completly gone over and strengthened. It would give me more confidence running a high boost when that time would come. Im not sure what and how you strengthen the engine? Someone drop some knowledge please....

The 4a's have a really strong bottom end. All you would really need to do is re-build the engine. You know, take it apart, new gaskets, check everything out.

As for the 3s, it has a stronger bottom end... I hate you gt-guys and your 3s swaps ..l.,
