I have a 94 ST w/ an electric sunroof. When I press the slide button it acts like its going to slide back up into the roof, but then it only goes down just enough to let some air leak in and it wont open up. I thought at first that this might just be normal, but today I saw my friends celica with his open and it opens all the way up. Is this just b/c his is newer or is there something wrong w/ mine. I'm pretty sure it has something wrong, but if any of you 94 owners or anyone else could help me out and maybe tell me how to fix this id appreciate it. Thanx.

Thanx Philly Guy. If you can find out something for me that would be great. Anyone know how much a motor would cost or where to get one?

I fixed it!!!!! I'm sooooo proud of myself right now. I figured out there was a piece of metal wedged in the track that the window rolls back on and it was jamming it up. SO I beat it out of there and "tadah", it worked.

I have a sunroof, and IDK if its aftermarket or not. It only opens 1/2 way, i THINK this is normal. Mid 90s Civics have this kind also. But if its not i'd like to know. Please take pics of the sunroof buttons and how far it opens. I'd appreciate it.

I'll try to get to a camera this week and get some pics for you guys, but basically there was a sort of metal arm screwed down at the beginng of the track that had pieces of metal springing it up (I guess to give the window some support?) but one of the pices of metal had broken off and was stuck in the track that the window slides on. I took out the metal piece and removed the "lifting arms" from each side and the window works fine now. I dont see that the arms really served much of a purpose. The window still closes tightly and has no leaks.

Yeah this sounds very similar. I've had a look at the sunroof, and it isn't symetrical, one side has what sounds like the arm, sticking out of the front, and i cant see the spring things that i can on the other side.
Don't think i'd need photos actually, but if you could give me a brief description of how you removed the bits would prob help. Cheers bro Shortty |

I just used a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the stuff out. Simple, but effective, just th3 way I like it.
