The group of arab nations exporting oil is called OPEC. They may have raised prices on oil, but the rate at which the US fuel market taxes the oil is the real ripoff. Oil from OPEC is still the cheapest and best source for oil in the world. On average, each barrell coming out of OPEC is about $16 per barrell, and oil from west Texas is about 14.75 per barrell (but they don't import it) each barrell holds 42 gallons that means you should be paying 38 cents per gallon if they were non-profit. So if you look at it in perspective, the United States uses 19.7 million BARRELLS per day, each barrell at 1.50/gallon is a oh well, you do the math

$1,241,100,000 @ $1.50 a gallon total .... $1,406,580,000 @ $1.70 .... $1,414,854,000 @ $1.71 (profit increase of $8,274,000 for charging $0.01 extra.)
$315,200,000 total to import
$925,900,000 cash profit (@ $1.50 per gal) used for refining, salary/paychecks, shipping, taxes, profit.

(EDIT:) ALL NUMBERS ARE PER DAY.

and were not even paying close to $1.50 right now.

whered you get the info from??

Man, you wouldn't like to pay for gas in the UK. Currently the price of gas is about £3.75/gallon . I make that over $5/galllon. This is mostly because the government take 80% in tax .. mad.gif Makes your $1.70 seem cheap.
