I need to get my windows tinted, i can barely see thorugh them cause when my dad used to have the celica he used like windex on the inside of the window, now its all scratchy, what do you guys think of chrome/mirror tinting? Or just dark tinting? I've seen some cars with custom graphic tinting, although personally i think thats a little too ricey. By mirror, I mean something like this http://www.tkotinting.com/gallery/custom/custom04.jpg but without the green checkers. Ideas?

Graphic tinting is ricey yes.
Mirror tinting, thats very very illegal but then again tinting the front windows is illegal to so no matter what its illegal.

I have a 17% tint with a mirroring effect. Its not quite as "mirrory" as that, but decent, not over done, i like it.

Well the guy that could do that for me, has police permits, so all his tinting is perfectly legal, any cops pull me over i can just flash that and be off with him.. hehe.. But yeah, I think I might just go for a dark black tint.. cheaper and less ricey. I'm also concerned about the darkness of the mirror tint. That Civic in the pic is actually located pretty near me, its usually around where me and my friends skate, its very light tinting, almost clear.. because its a blue mirror tint.

Well Australia must be different, I didnt think u were that far away. Here in New York its illegal to have any tint in the front 2 windows or a strip on the front bigger than 6'', no matter who does it.

Really? No tint at all on the front windows? Here its only illegal to have tint on the front windshield, and anything beyond 35%, and I thought our rules were strict.. smile.gif

Talking about the strip in front.. I tought on the fronw inshield, there was a mark, showing were it can go down to. at least it was that way, for my fiero, dodge, bimmer.. but i didnt notice one on the celi. Does that mean like the winshield is too low or somthing an ya cant do it??

IDK anything about markings, I just know its 6'' because thats what the cop told me as he went over my entire car telling me every single piece of illegal equipment.

US is TOO strict. You cant have modified exhaust, you cant have any tint in the front, you cant mess with emissions you cant do this you cant do that.

I was thinking of getting the 6gc logo cut out in the tint. I think that would look cool. and you wouldn't really notice it unless you were up close.

That would be kind of cool Pete...probably pretty hard to notice even up close though.

And Super, I feel ya. A couple days ago I got pulled over and this chick cop walked around the car and told me I had 8 things wrong with my car, one of which is my 20% window tint(which is actually legal...two cops have busted out the tint tester machine and tested it.) She proceeded to write me a ticket, but ran back to my car and said it was my lucky day because she had to go to an emergency.

Well in Florida is also illegal to have anything higher than 35%. I got pulled over for speeding on my Tacoma truck and I got a ticket for the tints too.. I took it to a lawyer and both tickets were dismissed HAHAHA. I still have my tints on my truck and they are very dark i think they are 5%. Cops in the Miami area dont care about tinting that much, even the police cars are tinted with illegal tints. It is only when they want to be assholes when they give you a ticket for it...

In any case, tint your car with a dark tint. That mirror thing just doesn't look good. I dont have tints on my Celica yet because I dont drive it. it is sittin in the garage and it is my project car...

RI laws are stupid ... for instance my friends dad has a jag and a suburban ... he had tints on both

the suburbans was legal and the jaguars wasent legal... yet they both came from the factory like that and were the same exact tint percentage. i dont get it. your not supposed to have any tints in RI from what i have heard but both cars of his were legally inspected.....

wait a second...

you should look in to something about getting all those scratches off the glass before you tint. a tint won't help vision, it will impair it.

The scratches are on the actual tinting, the windex has reacted with the tint (I'm guessing?) because its not on the glass itself, its on the inside. I think I may go a darker tint, maybe 20 or 25%, although Akimbo's looks good, what about my sunroof? I'd need that tinted too right?
