I'm deciding between going CAI or just drop in a K&N air filter. I'm looking for performance doesn't need the sound or look. Is there really a big perforamnce difference between the two? If I go CAI then I'm just going to get one from 95celGT, but if the K&N can give me almost the same performance then i'll just drop in the air filter.

i would go with the CAI if it is a real CAI. Some stores say its a CAI but its only a regular intake. The CAI will provide you with more power and sounds much better too.

I have the CAI from 95celgt and though its not dino proven, I could feel a little bit of difference on low end torque. The CAI he has made goes into the fender to collect colder air and improve air flow. Although I lost a little bit of throttle response, my car is performing better than with the stock air box.

Anub1s, Installation wasn't hard for you was it? Did you do it by yourself? I have no problems relocating the fusebox, but do I have to cut out about a 4in hole for the filter and pipe to go into/down to the fender? What did you use to do this?

i also have the CAI from 95celgt. My car defiantly performs better with it. i noticed better pick up. and it sounds awesome. as anubis said it goes down into the left front fender for a nice blast of cold air. heres some pics of it from 95celgt.

PM me if you want more information. also i have one question that i hope someone can answer for me. 95celgt used 3" piping for our cai's. i was told that this was too big and it would perform better if the piping was smaller. is this true? cause the throttle body where it conects is smaller then 3" thas for sure. how would it sound different? can some one shed some light on this for me? Installation just took the better part of an afternoon. My friend helped me cut the whole with a Dremel tool, it did the job and quick. I had to cut out a total of about 2" from the whole to make it wider all the way around and also had to shorten up the piping to get it to fit the way that I personally wanted it to. The fuse box isn't hard to relocate at all. I just stuck them on top of the piping and used a zip-tie for now but I will be making a customer bracket for it here shortly.
For our cars, a 2.25" or 2.5" inch would have been better because the air would be more compacted. The 3" piping allows the air to move around a bit inside of the piping thus lowering your throttle response. The difference between a 2.25/2.5" and 3" piping isn't really all that noticable. You could barely tell the difference so I wouldn't worry about it. In reality, yes a smaller piping would have been better but I like the look of a 3" don't you? |

that looks really low inside the fender? are any of you worried about water getting in there? hydrolock?
