nah im workin on it still he was makin jokes. but i figured out why i lost... my engine burns oil lieka bitch and i forgot to put soem in it goes through 1 qt a week. soo. i had no oil.an d the rwd is nto going to happen i mean it could but to much work. as for the z and the t im still working that out.

but seriously the ST doesnt have the **** loads of power like say a WRX or SRT-4 or even the new SI civic. so i say screw the drag racing. but if you really want to drag you can lightening up the car. like stated earlier lose the back seats, panels, carpet, spare tire, jack, and passenger seat. lose AC/heater. stick with the 14 inch rims with a grippy tire and lose a little weight up front. lighter hood, smaller battery and what not. itll be a little quick off the line but you ll still get owned at a drag strip.

but take that same car to a auto x event. do a about 2 years of practicing and after 2 years youll be whooping ass left and right. ive actually ran even with a 7th gen GT and also a Type R at these events. since it focus more on the driver then the car.

red sun i did that and more. theres alot you can take out of the celi. member i was up at the chino meet. i can keep up with alot of the canyon runners out here. so im good to go i just thought it was a shame that a focus zx3 beat me . but no one ever answered my question... can you do anyhting to the auto in my car to make 3rd gear have more tq.

What? Like modify the tranny? AUTO trannies are made to be efficient... They're not made for performance. It's got only 4 tall gears... There are no DIY modifications that can be done to improve a tranny, in fact... I don't reccomend trying to even mess with a tranny unless you're skilled and experienced and have all of the right tools...
Simple answer... get rid of it. Swap in a manual. C50, C52, C56... 2 different 5 speeds some available with LSD, one 6 speed version w/ or w/o LSD (C56)...

fyi, its the engine that makes the torque, tranny just puts it to the wheels.

you want more torque, get some mods on the engine.

haha its bad man. today i realized how slow a N/A GT is also. a pipe came undone = no boost. from 13 to 0. the car just wasn't fun at all. but from going to an st to gt i was like holy cow this is faster than a viper! lol. not really

what is the GT's powerband? at what rpm should you shift it?

if i'm ever racing i usually shift at 6k from first to second and shift around 5600 in the other gears. the car just chirps harder when i rev it up higher in the first gear. Because of our cars high torque(but i dont understand why i thought it peaks at 4400rmp??), i usually jump up quite a bit from just shifting from 1st to 2nd. Ive even hung with a trans am for the first gear and half. then i got owned, but i was pretty surprised we were side by side for a second or two. but when i hit third and fourth gear i get pulled on by pretty much everything except civics. I always take the intergas at first and then by the time i'm in 5th gear there 2-3 cars a head of me. Our top end just blows.

although torque is made by the power the gear ratios control howe efficiently the power is used. the manual is his best bet, since like Kwanza said the Auto only has 4 gears.

it's like going 1-2-4-5 or 1-2-3-5

but to make up for losing a gear they lengthen every gear. generally the higher the gear the more lengthening.

A 5-speed would help your cause, but be careful to by one that the 7A can use efficiently.

ie. i dont feel an e153 belongs w/ a 5S. it might slow it down

thanks kwanza. i dunno what im gonna do now.... its to much money and time to put in a 5 speed. soo we will see.. and sccelica i have a few engine mods. but the simple fact is that the st auto tranny doesnt put anyhting down in 3rd. if i could change that ratio life would be good but i cant.

confused.gif i feel ya man. autos suck. at first i didn't mind but going uphill makes me say in my head, "i think i can, i think i can, i think i can". i'm not sure how it is with manual tranny's but yah... this car is slow...i have a 94 gt
