I don't know.. I talked to Coomer about offering to organize; but he said he thought doggy was working on it; getting hi quality picts of nice celicas together already.
The only thing is is that I don't think Doggy was planning for submissions, nor do I know if he's still working on it.. I'd rather do it the submission way.. but oh well :/ |

well guys, i talked with Coomer before like 2 or 3 weeks, i offered him to make 6gc calendar... After that i started collecting photos.. made few of them to look quit good.. but that's it. Basicly, i dont want to grab someones idea or nothing, if Coomer desides to make it, i wont stand against this.
Now only thing is needed, a one single word from Coomer, if he says that he thinks that i need to conitune on calendar i will continue, if not, its not a problem for me.. Basicly what i offered, is to make the pics for calendar, and send the JPG or TIFF formats in CD to someone who got some connections in US to print the calendar there. Well, let me know guys what you thing, let me know Coomer what you think. And i think we will make some suggestions anyway -------------------- Ex celica owner - just a guy from other side of the pond...

Posted this elsewhere, but Point Loma in San Diego is a lot like Mt. Tamalpias in Marin where a lot of car commercials are shot.
If there is some photography I have an N80 and lots of slide film. Also an FE for IR shots if those appeal. Also, the solution to the hot babes conundrum... have 11 months of just cars and one month of 12 scantily clad womenfolk gang banging a Celica. -------------------- |

I'd pay 15 for a calendar.
Coomer, I know you're buried in physics, but why not set it up so we can vote on the calendar photos? A quick php database with thumbnails and vote counters that everyone can submit a few shots to. I have a feeling most of the votes will go to our fearless leader's photos, but we'd have good representation of people/areas/cars from everywhere. The nominees send the printer a cd/dvd with good, quality non-jpegs for printing. Oh and the calendar should have a 13th month, Smarch. -------------------- |

I think Doggy is collecting photos from choice cars, I dont think they're holding a public submission/runoff.. which kinda sucks, cus I'd really want to do that.
and dude, email is good enough for sending the high quality picts- almost every digi cam takes them in jpeg anyway. |

QUOTE email is good enough for sending the high quality picts- almost every digi cam takes them in jpeg anyway. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the sharpness, color fidelity, and characteristic curve of film. Digital SLRs are acceptable. Point and shoot digitals recording JPEGS? Come on! -------------------- |

No, I agree with you. I love my non digital SLR camera- and I'm dying for a digital SLR right now.
But 90% of the picts submitted would be from consumer level cameras |

Any image should be fine as long as its 300 dpi at the calendar size plus bleed. If the calendar is going to be 11x17 with a top half image in an 8.5x11 area it would need to be 3300x2550 plus some if you wanted it to bleed over the edge. You can also have them made inexpensively at cafepress.com, people could order them independently of the 6GC site and the profit would go directly to the shop administrator. Let me know if you guys need any prepress help.
The only thing I would caution is scanning in an image that was previously printed, a photo is fine, but if it was a printed image the scanner pattern and the printer pattern will cause a moire effect on the image, like if you put two window screens together and rotated the front one. |
