I bought a clutch kit from an online dealer, the cheapest one i could find $113. It turned out that the pressure plate was the wrong size. I went to the dealer and payed $185 for a brand new kit. Dealers arent that bad if you go to the parts department alot the guy starts hooking you up to. I just got a toyota key from the guy 1/2 off. The parts guy can give you discounts becuase he writes the invoice. I learned my lesson nothing on ebay or online for my car, except aftermarket stuff. Also the biggest plus is you can return at anytime and you dont have to wait a week or worry about a deadbeat seller.

Yeah, I like my dealer. They're helpful, and give me discounts on the parts that I can't find anywhere else(though stuff is still ridiculously expensive.) I had to take back a speedometer cable and speedometer gear recently too and they were very good about it. smile.gif

I think it's more of a matter of what car we drive, I mean our youngest cars will still be 5 yrs old, if I was working in a Toyo dealership & saw someone come in ordering parts for a older car, I would try to help them out with a discount since you'd think parts would be cheaper for older makes.

I usually go to Advanced Auto. I know most of the poeple there and they give me discounts sometimes. Besides that, they sell a good product. They have stock and slitely better than stock stuff. They don't have to much high high performance stuff though. As far as the dealer, my dad gets a disscount sence he has his own shop. Still expensive, I avoid the place if possiable.

I have never hated a dealr. Well the only time iv ben was like 4 dif times, with my bimmer. They looked at the car four times for free, and even gave me two free courts of oil (one to fill and on to keep) then $150 worth of colant the 3rd time because (later figured out, they replaced the cap the second time, and it blew the system. Then the 4th time, they fixed everything, with a low cost of $800, but then when i figured it was there fault, they let me go with it all for free. Also I have been there more then 10 times within 3 weeks, to talk to mechanics and parts people about how to work on certain things and products. Even though this was a BMW dealer, Its Tate owned, and they also own toyotas and lexus dealers too.

im sure u get it like i do when i go - they start flirting with u more than trying to sell you the car

i spit facts that i read on the net about the car and they get all impressed like wow you really know this car and im like yeah thats it

and i love when they ask - so whats done to ur car i dont see much done to it! im like do u know what a GT4 is and they say no and i just simply reply

YOU SHOULDNT BE WORKING HERE IF U DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE MODELS!

I hate parts guys who dont know how to use the computer they are working with. I had a parts guy once tell me they no long make a part I was looking for, and the next day i asked another parts guy for that part, and he found it. So the first guy was computer illterate and he LIED to me. He could of said i can't find it instead of saying they don't make it anymore. the part was a boot (tonneau) cover for a convertible.
