How difficult would it be to fit 7th gen seats in a 6th gen, and how'd you install the seat belt?

I heard that 3 of the 4 holes will line up.
i think for the other u will have to cut it and extend it to fit.

none will line up. the brackets on the 7gc seats are closer together by about an inch, and the bends on the back are waaay different than the 6gc.

u cant, cuz its attached to the whole chair. the brackets are attached to the part that joins the vertical to the horizontal piece, and even that is one huge part.

Kwanza! John! Get over here!

It's possible to do, probably a hackjob.

how sad....u guys are doubting me..... frown.gif

if ur gonna go through all the effort of some how magically chopping off the 6gc brackets AND THEN welding them to the 7gc seat, you might as well save urself the trouble and just weld what it comes with to ur 6gc. the brackets are different. the tracks are different. nothing is the same on either of the two seats. im not saying its not possible to do, but its definately not the best route. thats like saying, hey lets put a supra engine in my celica. wink.gif

i used one of the existing holes, and then for the other 3, i drilled, tapped, spaced, bent, and whatever else i needed to, using nice big high grade bolts. smile.gif. it's really not that "hard". it's moreso just time consuming.

you also gotta think..i put 7th gen seats in my brother's 98 Chevy S10. that involved cutting/bending/spacing/drilling/etc etc etc. but it was well worth it. smile.gif.

YOU CAN MAKE ONE HOLE LINE UP BUT THE OTHER 3 WON'T. 7TH GEN SEAT ARE ABOUT AND INCH AND A HALF NARROWER , IT TAKES SOME TIME TO GET THE SEATS TO SIT RIGHT AND SLIDE CORRECTLY BUT THE END RESULT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT

forkee is right. Unlike John, I didn't drill/tap new holes. Making new holes in the floor just didn't feel right to me... so I cut off the mounting brackets (not the sliders) and re-welded them to fit the 6th gen's stock holes. Works alright. I could have been more careful and had it straighter, but it's pretty good overall...

don't go to the dealer. they'll charge you around 500 each. just ask any 7gc owner that swapped theirs out with aftermarket ones. remember mike from the last norwalk meet? (hes the black 7gc owner with lambo doors and turbo) i asked him what he did with his old ones and the rest is history wink.gif

u should be able to get them anywhere between $100-$300 for both. any more is too expensive.

I got the 7th gen seats in my car
here's what I did 1 hole will line up & thats the one near the door, the other you will haft to get a airhammer gun with a fork bit ,hammer the other 3 braket off; dont get ride of them , keep them!
the braket on the back near the door will needed to be welded into the spot where the hole for the 6gen seats are. because the braket on the7th gen seats are about a inch off, on the other side you will need a pice of flat steel for the rear (home dpot $7.00)wled that to the braket then line the holes up mark the seat rail ,thenweld it to that. the front you can turn the braket to match the hole& thats that!
