Ok, i did some searching near my house, and a guy had import cars near his house, and he said they were for parts only! no resale of the car. He has 1 Toyo Celica which was T-Boned and the whole end is practicaly missing. BUT! The speedometer says, 40354! Damn thats low! He said he got it from an auction in PA! So i popped what was left of the hood, and it has a beautiful 5sfe in there, since some people like TI know i have been having problems. So if i purchased this engine would it be a clean swap, or would i have problems because its been in a accident?!!!
Thanks,
Ryan

p.s. anyone interested he has 1 good headlight left on the passenger side its the low beam.

Look it over carefully for any cracks, especially around the engine mounts/trans mounts, could be unusable if you find anything important broken, otherwise, should be ok.
If you are in need of a 5SFE, I'd think there were plenty of Camrys in the salvage yards, should be the same base engine.

How much is it? You might just wanna buy it, build the 5S, then swap.

He will only sell me the engine, cause of the fact that the car was involved with the police, and was crashed in an accident during a police chase! The driver was T boned while speeding through an intersection! Anyways, he said $800 for the engine, but i had to tear it out myself, and move it myself!
The guy is kind of an a$$.

Anyone second the fact that a 5s out of a Camry can go into a celica? And this is without much of any moddification? I hope this is true.

$800, and you have to pull it?

thats kinda pricey for what the engine is

look at some camry's at junkyards. same engine, same trans, same mounts.

I would say
A: the last time is was running, it was driving hard, because it was in a chace.
B: thats way to much to have to pull yourself. You might as well, just buy one at a normal junkayrd get them to pul. It cost around $150 and then just rebuild it, then when its done, drop it in.

****, if I was trying to sell something I would be super-courteous. Especially when it comes to an engine!

Some are seriously lacking in the people skills department.

Police chase? I'd stay away from it. probably got ran REAL hard...

Camry 5sfe motor should work fine, like they said, may have to use your mounts and also possibly other things like water outlet if it point at a different angle or something, your distributor etc., other bolt-on brackets , what ever is unique to the celica, if you have a 5sfe now, it would be no problem, but trying to go this route on an ST wouldn't work, you would have to collect ALL the Celica 5sfe parts that are different 1st,,,

i'd wait till someone says they're going to do a swap and see what kind of mileage that have...
when ppl swap they sell the old ones for like $100-400
