hey guys, im new to this forum, so hello to everyone smile.gif

i have a question, i have an ST205 group a, and i want to find out how to enable the water spray for the IC. i have tried the forum search and google search and found nothing. does anyone here know how / have done this?

I don't have a groupA, so I've never tried.

Maybe this will help:

The water spray system is not operational from the factory, the regulations said the parts had to be there, not necessarily work! There are three small plastic nozzles mounted on the rear of the steel bumper facing the intercooler radiator. On the bottom of the windscreen washer bottle there is a small (500 ml or so) chamber with a pump attached. Given the 10 gauge wiring and general size this is a very powerful pump. Pity it isn't actually wired to anything!

There is also some type of pneumatic pressure regulator fitted to the water bottle. An expensive wee doodah by the look of it, but as this area was smashed apart in the crash I never figured out how it connected. From it one vacuum line went to the cold start injector fuel line fitting (note CS injector isn't actually connected to fuel rail) and the other splices into the vacuum lines on the back of the block. Since I couldn't figure it out, I binned it! There is a also a distribution valve which merges the water pipes from the IC pump and the headlight sprayer pump and selects whether the water goes to the IC sprayers or headlight washers. Again, I couldn't figure this out so I turfed it. Now the IC pump is connected to the IC sprayers, and the headlight pump is connected to the headlight sprayers. A lot simpler? I reckon.

The small cavity on the bottom of the washer tank isn't actually connected to anything. There is a barbed fitting for a hose and a couple of smaller fittings for pipes. I was going to drill through so washer fluid drains down but then I realised that the barbed fitting is intended to take a hose from a larger water tank (inside the car) specifically intended for the IC spray. The smaller fittings may be for breathers of return lines. I intend to get an interior tank with a small feeder pump that can be filled as required.

Wiring is also required. I ran a 10 gauge wire from the fusebox via a relay and fuse. A small wire heads inside so that a small voltage only is required to activate the system. I have yet to decide how this will be done, but refer to the water spray articles at http://www.autospeed.com/A_0527/page1.html.

man, crazy ass toyota - seems as tho that 500ml chamber is like a little uh 'primer' tank or something, maybe intended so the whole volume of water for the IC spray wouldnt be heat soaked all at once by having it in the engine bay?

sounds like the simplest thing to do by far would be to get an external washer pump and connect it between the window sprayer tank and the IC spray line and ignore all the rest of it

i am having a new and thicker heat exchanger made for my st205wrc ..going to C and R in indy today to have them look at spec's . (mine is damaged and leaks thanks to damn tranny cooler in front hitting it ..ugh!!)

i plan on using a seprate tank and pump from oem wrc set up

looking at having activate only at certain levels rather thru just a switch as that would be a pain to hit it every few minutes .

I have "homemade" sprayer which I had on the top mount to try to help with heatsoak but now I'm moving it to the heatexchanger. Basically its the washer sprayer relocated & split with a better misting nozzles. I also think im going to connect it to my RSM so that at a certain RPM it will automatically turn on.

well in 6-8 weeks i will have a new heat exchanger .. slightly thicker and tad longer but will still fit in stock location .. 100% aluminum and race car quality

C&R is also installing 2 spal 8" fans on back side ...

should be a nice set up when done ...

also i highly reccommend their gold heat reducing material .. put a peice of metal covered on one side with material and placed over torch and the exposed metal was not even hot .. this same stuff race teams use ..

if you have a air to water i would get some and wrap bottom of i/c with it .. worth every penny .. much better than silver crap i have seen ..

they are clear like projectors but standard headlights ..aussie spec ..

bumps are indeed headlight sprayers - im using them too smile.gif at work it is so dusty the car quickly starts looking 'rally spec' due to dirt

those headlights are standard for 6g celicas here. didnt know they were anything special smile.gif

I don't have them either.....
...still, less weight, more speed.

Red ones are faster as well....
