i wouldnt say its a bad topic. just not specific. i would just assume all the cars are stock, and the lowest model.

QUOTE(Bigmeanbulldog55 @ Feb 15, 2005 - 10:35 AM)
I’d just compared everything to an American GT stock.  The new Civic Si’s could beat us, the others would have a hard time.  95-99 GT-S or X Eclipse would beat us, the early ones are a good race, about a 50/50 shot.  We could beat every Neon except the SRT-4.  It’d be a good race with the V6 stang, depends on the year.  But the 5.0’s and up GT’s will walk all over us.  Older mustangs aren’t to hard to beat as long as there stock and not BOSS’s or Cobra’s.  I think the V6 Probe might be a good race.  The early 90’s turbo Probe would be hard to handle.  The four cylinders would be easy.  All focuses except the SVT, in which case I think would be a good race but the SVT might pull the win, have a ¼ chance of winning.  I think we could handle about any Accord.  The GS (I think that’s the right model) Integra’s would be a good race, but I don’t know much about these.  This is all just my opinion, and sort of put out there for some discussion.

let me edit this a bit

The Civic EX was made to compete with the 5S. In fact, my bestest buddy ever has one. Its almost a direct tie. So EX's would give us a run for our money.

The Eclipse/Talon/Laser Turbo FWD/AWD would kill, and kill bad. The N/A motors would also give us a run for our money. The "old" Eclipse is acutally proven better than the second gen, though I prefer second gen's more. I know this because I came from the DSM family.

The Neon R/T (also known as the N/A Eclipse/Talon) would again, give us a run for our money. The SRT would kill.

The V6 Stang would win. The V8 stang would kill.

The V6 Probe/MX6 would win by alot. The Turbo Probe would win. The 4-banger would lose.

Your right about the Focus. All but SVT would lose.

I think the Accord V6 would win, the 4-cyl would be close only due to weight.

The Integra (THE CAR CHOSEN TO BE CELICA'S ENEMY, yes boys and girls, the Honda Integra is the rival to the Celica). The Older GS is a good tie. The TYPE-R was made to compete against the 7th gen GTS, and thats a good race.

Its not that I hate the Celica. I'm just realistic. I've driven almost all late model import sports cars and have owned quite a few. You cant expect a 135HP (best model) to compete with the top models of others. I'd say the Civic/Integra and the N/A Eclipse/Talon are the best match ups.

I don't like my Celica. I think it's slow and I want something else. I just bought it because my girlfriend liked it, and now no one will let me sell it. I did race a turbo Laser once (same as the 1gen gs-t eclipse) and barely won. I'm slitely modded, and I'm pretty good at racing, so these might have had an effect on the race. As for the other cars, I'm just going on the one's I've raced and drove. I've raced and drove a V6 stang, and I can beat it, no question.

EDIT: I want an MR2 turbo, or a Civic Hachback Si. I'd rather have the mr2 turbo though. I had a nice dream about driving that thing the other night.

If it was a point to point race in a straight line then I recon the MR2 would take it, being lighter an all. Add a few corners in, and a bit of bad weather then the Celica would win.

I can only really comment on the GT4 v MR2 Turbo. The Celica`s 4wd helps on launch but slows you down when all that tracktion is no longer needed. But like I said, add a few nice tight corners in and the Celica will stomp all over the tail happy MR2

i think i would probably smoke most of those on the list. only real threat i see is if the eclipse was turbo, or the neon an str4

It's ok if the eclipse is turbo, you can still beat him. The only thing you have to worry about is if it's AWD. If it is, then it will be close, if you actually run a full 1/4 mile. If it's 1/8 mile, then you lost.

As for the SRT4, you have no problems. I take them out all the time.

I like the challenge of Evo`s (early ones) or Impreza`s, some you win, some you lose but its all fun, my fave fodder has to be BMW`s as BM drivers seem to think they have the fastest thing on the road, I love leaving them behind. All but the later M 3`s or 5`s and even then I`ll have a go.

I still haven't had the privelage to run a Evo, M3, or M5 on the street. But I have on the freeway. The Evo and M3 can be beat, but not the M5. That !@#$ is fast.

I voted "mustang" only because i'm not a big fan of american cars, and I love it when a muscle car gets beat by a 4 banger.

Now, i have a quick question. I've never heard of this mustang, but a mustang with the "roush" badge on the rear lined up next to me wanting to race. We went at it, but I want to know what the specs are on it. Does anyone know?

go for it, but if you want to win or keep it close, race a FULL 1/4 mile.

Depends alot on the driver, On the motorway the M5 is a beast and pretty much untouchable, but alot of drivers seem to be unwilling to push them that hard on the twisties which is where the GT4 is at its best.

I`d love to have a pop at some of the american muscle cars, always hear about V8 mustangs etc, We dont have any of them in the UK and I know very little about them, think I`ve only ever seen one on the street, Big American cars just arnt popular over here apart from with a few collectors/enthusiasts. It would be interesting to see how they compare to the faff.

I guess I'm somewhat right. The Roush comes in 3 stages, the 3rd stage is the only powerhouse one of the three.

Bench racing hurts my head... you guys should really stop. Look at the specs... the weight, the mods, the drivetrain layout, and then figure it out in your head. The specs typically hold up.
