What do u guys think? My buddy just got a turbonetics kit for his H22A that he has in his 99 civic. He thinks he'll be runnin with these cars, c'mon now is it possible? I mean i know the civic is a lite ass car but even with 400+hp, these other cars are designed to be sport compacts, the civic is not....voice ur opinions!

Right off the floor...... NSX hands down.. more of a low level super car than a sport compact...

BTW this is on off topic post as it has nothing to do with a celica
but anyways, I doubt his civic will be pushing 400+hp without several other mods. But anyways, I thought the 3s would be kinda fast in the celi but was moddest and didnt think I could roll with "fast" cars. Well I raced an Evo 8 and was only at his back door, and he had started in front of me... On that note also, I got desimated by an AMG mercedes. My point I guess is what trims of the above cars, driver, and additions will make a huge difference and your buddies done up civic could have a chance against some of those cars. Also, HP numbers are not everything. There is also torque (which honda's are infamous about not having) and weight. I have this video on my comp of a MR2 turbo (w/ 3rd gen 3s-gte pushing 245hp) vs a RX7 with 255hp. Seems like the Rx7 would win hands down but it gets beat up by the MR2 pretty badly. (also that video is of some japanese television show on a profesional course with profesional drivers, not some street race) |

street racing is stupid and dangerous anyway.

NSX, are you insane?
that's $80k only thing that can touch it in price is FQ400 and 0mile Supra. -------------------- |

400BHP from a Civic is gonna require some serious mods to the engine, gearbox, in fact just about the whole car, it would rip itself to bits.
I voted for the NSX, Nice cars to drive, handles exceptionaly well, looking a bit dated now but still a great car, my boss used to have one and let me drive it once, I had a smile on my face for a week. |

points taken... but this is not ur everyday d-block honda, he has the h22a out of a newer prelude (theres 200 horses) plus he has the h22 ecu and also a 2 1/2" exhaust and a CAI. Right now he's running around 220 hp, i dont know about the ft/lbs but i know theres no rev limiter and i've seen the tach burried (8500 rpms) This is a serious civ. With the turbonetics t3/t4 kit, hp gains are estimated around 200. I'm just wonderin if the j-spec H-block can handle that power. And as far as the NSX which many of u voted on, it will never be dated....

its not a fair comparison. you are comparing a stock supra, nsx, etc vs a highly modified civic. besides, do you actually think you will run against a stock supra or otherwise? people buy those cars to modify and the ones with stockers will not be racing a civic revving up on them at a stoplight.

good point gh0st but lets say YOUR in an nsx type S and u roll up on a little brite green civic that sounds kinda good...so u give it a rev to say "dont **** with me" and he has the balls to rev back, and the little civ sounds like a 4 cyl on PCP, would u race him or say "ahhhh, he knows not race MY bad ass NSX? Cuz i know if i was on the NSX power trip i would race him, i just dont know how it would turn out.
what i'm sayin is anything is possible, even turning a civic into a CIVIC w/ BALLS |

What about the Skyline? I didnt even put him in there b/c the r34 would destroy any car on any poll with the exception of a mclaren or any other SUPER CAR, which the nsx is not.

oh i didnt realize this poll, but a turbo h22 will run 13's. Theres a guy down my street with a 92 civic hatch with full wide body, and turbo h22 and it runs 12.6 which last i saw is faster then all of those cars.

I voted H22 civic, because it's the only one mentioned to be modded. And a lot of people on this site hate Hondas, so some one needs to get behind them. Seriously though, H22 turbo could beat all these if set up right. And that's in any racing condition. There's no way you could argue that.

drag
with the right suspension and slicks a turbo h22 civic hatch will be fast as hell. QUOTE oh i didnt realize this poll, but a turbo h22 will run 13's. Theres a guy down my street with a 92 civic hatch with full wide body, and turbo h22 and it runs 12.6 which last i saw is faster then all of those cars. 13's? those guys cant drive or dont have the right suspension setup i have seen NA JDM h22 hatch civics run 13's at LACR, which is a high elevation track, with the only mods being open header and an intake and prolly a hondata ecu. a CRX with a turbo B16 around here runs mid 11's turbo h22 hatch would slaughter an NA 350z, a NA rx8, an NSX, stock STI, stock EVO, stock mk4 supra TT, stock 3000gt vr4 i hope your buddy is rebuilding the engine, 11:1 CR and boost make for a lot of detonation. and that turbonetics kit was crap for my friend's prelude vtec. the MF2 box never worked, car ran so damn lean im suprized he didnt blow the **** out of his engine. and he still hasnt gotten the car to run right This post has been edited by 97sccelica: Feb 18, 2005 - 3:53 AM -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition

BTW, i have had experience with all those cars
as for a skyline, they arent meant for drag despite the amazing drivetrain, and even still, a turbo h22 civic hatch with slicks and drag suspension would kill a stock R34 in the 1/4 mile -------------------- 1994 Celica GT4 WRC Edition
