Hey guys,

I know this is a repost, and I know it has been discussed.

But I would like a follow up review from you guys that have these pads.

State if you have followed brake in produres, and whether you installed new rotors along with the pads.

State how many miles you have driven on these pads. And how much pad life is left (brand new? half way used up?).

How hard do you drive your car? 1 being groceries getter and 10 being all time track machine.

Any complaints? noise? dust? during hot or cold weather? better then stock? better then ceramic pads?

Is it worth the extra cash on them? Also how much are they, cause il be needing brakes sometimes soon.

As of now i still have the st standerd set-up so wasnt sure how much it would even help gettign nice pads.

I got some nice ones when i had the bimmer, just cause the wheels.. and spetn like $200 but now thinking of it, that was really stupid waste of money. The wheels staid cleaan and they were def nice.

i've been reading reviews on the tire rack.. and people are saying they are noisey when they are cold. And there is not much of a reduction of brake dust. Also some people complain that they wear out quickly.

Another thing that alarmed me was. If you use old rotors it will wear out these pads more quickly. Scary stuff considering the average cost of brakes pads are 30 dollars a set and ebc comes up to a total of 80 dollars. And they will wear out quicker if you do not break in correctly.

But no one here is telling me what i want to know. ? .? . ?

I use em. They don't reduce brake dust that much. But who cares? You should be washing your vechile regularly anyways.

I paried mine with new brembo blank rotors. Stopping power is excellent. I was highly impressed as were my friend who runs axis pads. I did follow the break in proceedures...you have to or you will die.

In my opinion, their worth the extra. Keep in mind: You can either spend an extra 80 bucks now for better pads, or spend it later when you cant stop well and you hit something.

Also, I've been running my pads for almost a year. They still have plently of life. They are noisey on my car, escailly in the cold they will skertch. But you get that with a lot of performence pads.

I highly recommend the pads, fire off anymore Qs.

hey doug, dont jack my thread!!!

haha... just kidding.

this is what i have found out about autocross track pads:

"RACE/TRACK PADS are not for everyone. They are ALL, as far as my personal experience goes, expensive, dirty, noisy, short lasting, very hard on rotors, and, generally, don't work when cold. They do, however, work like an anchor around a tree when hot, and don't tend to fade (as much as street pads) when hot. The real key to using race pads is to WARM THEM UP BEFORE HEAVILY APPLYING THE BRAKES! Hard braking with cold race pads usually results in poor braking, lots of noise, and horribly grooved rotors. If you need race pads (and if you do a lot of hard track driving, you NEED race pads), be prepared for the above draw backs, and try to take them off as soon as you are off the track. The drawbacks make them unacceptable for street use, in my opinion. I have a stack of ruined rotors, and permenantly stained alloy rims to prove it. Even if you can stand the rotor and wheel destruction, you will tire of the dirt and noise."

one more question. Do you need to warm up EBC green stuff pads?

WOW Thanks Hanyo for the info.. I was just curious. as im going to need new pads, but dont want to spend a lot on pads and stuff seeing as how i stil have rear drums then would have to spend more converting them.. ya know.

EDIT: Also I think it would be a better improvment just converting the rear to disc and go with plan jan pads, just just getting nice pads ..

I have greenstuff brake pads on standard rotors and I must say they are way worse than even the Standard pads, as soon as I get some new rotors the greenstuff pads are going in the bin, they are useless, require much more pedal pressure to stop well, are uselessd in the wet and they squeel alot, I`ll never touch them again for any reason, they just arnt strong enough for the GT4, I`ve heard OK reports about the redstuff pads but not enough to buy them.

Quite possibly, but I dont know for sure? at some point or other most pads will cause gooving of discs eventually, there may be the odd exception but it always happens to me eventually.

i've read review by people who have hi end cars (like bmw's) who complain that the green stufff is the same as the factory pads. I personly have driven a bmw and the braking power is like night and day compaired to my st. the only people who praise green stuff are the ones that have cheap brakes systems.

I'm still indecisive whether to get these pads. I'm not a fan of the sqweaking pads during in the cold.

Well, as they say, there is a first time for everything rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif
This was my first time trying greenstuff pads, they may well be OK with a different car. If you are going to use them on a car thats a daily runner, I`d say they would be OK and will probably do the job required of them. If your gong to use them on a car where the driving is going to be a little more "spirited" then I would stay well clear, they squeek in the wet and sometime when they are cold, and are pretty much useless when the brakes heat up to higher than normal road use temps. Where I live, there are lots of twist country single track lanes (as well as multilane highways) and once youve braked hard a couple of times you almost have to double the peddal pressure to stop/slow in a hurry, really bad brake fade.
Hopefully I`ll find some good pads soon before I crash into something, which is never good. frown.gif
