macco offers different packages, the bad things you heard were probably the people who pay 200 dollars and sign a waiver.

Ya this was one of the more expensive jobs. I think they had another package for like 650 but all I had was 600 to work with. Its been a month now and the car has been waxed. It looks even better now.

macco do very basic paint jobs. the material isnt the best as well as the paint. they dont do inside and out paint or any type of custom work. and a 4 year warranty on a paint job is not a great thing since all reputble shops have lifetime warranties.

if you take your car to a reputable paint/bodyshop they will never let the car leave until its perfect since they dont want to ruin the shop name. a place like macco or any other chain shops really dont care since they are all employees and could care less about the name "macco".

an inside and out paint job will cost around the 2k range and a outside paint job will be around 1k from a good shop.

Well when it comes to a place like macco it depends on which one you go to. Some do better jobs then others. It just like going to McDonalds some have better food then others. Just ask around, I know the macco around me does real good work.

If any of you can find hook-ups on body shops, that's the way to go if the shop does good work.

I got my car painted because I did a website for a client a long time ago, and he was very happy. Because he owns a window tinting and auto detailing shop, I called him and asked if there was anything I could do to kind of cover up the scratches when my car got keyed, and he took me down to his buddy's body shop. I talked for a while and ended up working out a great deal with the owner of the shop, and I built him a nice computer and paid him $1000 insurance money, and then he painted my car for me. biggrin.gif It's an awesome paint job, with spa yellow pearl paint from PPG and two clear coats, and I'm very, very happy with it. smile.gif

Just don't go to Maaco. A lot of people say after a few months the paint starts peeling off. I was gonna get the $500 job there too, but then I found they wanted another $500 for a clear coat, so screw that. For that amount of money I just went to a guy I knew, and the paint looks awesome, besides a ton of orange peel.

For decent paint alone it should cost about $700 if not more, this doesnt include clear coat for your whole car. The majority of the time and effort is prepping the car to take the paint, this includes wet sanding, smoothing out imperfections in the body, removing moldings, body parts. All this takes time and money. If the shop doesnt prep you car right then the paints either gonna look like crap or come off within a year. Ive heard to many bad stories about maacoo. The lowest price youre probably gonna find for a decent paint job is bout $1500. which would require you do the majority of the prep work. Some people spend their entire summers just prepping the cars for a paint job. Make sure you do it correctly.

I would suggest maaco only if you intend to sell a car and want it to look decent before selling. If you planning on keeping your car for a while do not go to maaco.
