Hey, about 2 months ago, I purchased a 1994 Toyota Celica GT (my first car) and I'm looking for some great modifications without spending TOO much. Right now, I'm working on the stereo system, and I almost have that complete for the most part, but any suggestions about stereo, interior mods, exterior mods, rims, and tires that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg would be great!! |

My apologies, I just noticed that I put this topic under the wrong forum. If you could, I posted the same question under General Topics, reply there and go ahead and disregard this one. Sorry about that! |

Moved to engine/performance, and in the future, PM me or one of the other moderators for the forum, and we'll move it, rather than cross posting. Thanks.

For an easy interior mod, you could get Indiglo gauges - they slide over your needles and stick over existing gauges and glow like the indiglo watches, or with reverse indiglos only the numbers glow. I'm not sure what you consider cheap but these are around $US80.00. There's a number of companies out there selling them, a quick google search should reveal many of them - I got mine from Speed Hut (www.speedhut.com), which allowed me to customise the font, colours, logos etc. The service and time of delivery was excellent - especially since there is a large ocean between me (in NZ) and them (in the US).
I'm not sure about the US spec engines, but a popular starter mod on the 3SGE engine is to remove the airfilter box and add a pod filter (usually a cone shaped filter) to the pipe instead (allowing better air intake). This is quite an affordable mod here, so in the US where many pod filters are made, I'm guessing it'll be even cheaper. Along with the pod filter mod is the very affordable cool air intake system, which is simply a length of 4 inch wide flexible PVC tubing (or similar) - which is then attached with ziplock ties in the engine bay with one end pointing towards the pod filter and the other end located down in an opening in the lower part of the front bumper, allowing colder air to be directed at the filter (colder air = denser air = more air = more power {insert Tim the Toolman grunt} ). Hope this is helpful in some way -------------------- |
