anyone know what kind of costs i'm looking into replacing my cv joints. at least i think it's my cv joints, when i make corners, ESPECIALLY left corners, it's just an INSANELY loud clicking noise, but only if i apply gas, if i turn and just let my car roll, then there's no noise, but when there's gas, it's very embarrassing, lol. but yeah i don't really have a lot of money, so would i be alright with just fixing the one for now? and how much will it cost?

The best and cheaper and easier to replace the entire axles. They should run less than 150.00 for the axles...

Why not just have them rebuilt? I think most places other than dealers give you rebuilt axles anyways. Atleast most of the places I called do.

You can just do one side if the other is fine. It's best to replace both, but one at a time won't harm anything either.

Rebuilding can be just as expensive at replacing...

I recently replaced my half shafts myself. It was pretty easy and cost me around 150 for both after the cores of the old ones were brought back. but you also need to get a bracket pressed off the old passenger side and repressed onto the new one. but to replace a CV joint is the same amount as replacing half shafts. but its actually cheaper to replace the half shafts because you are replacing the whole thing rather than the cv joint itself. plus, the half shafts are easier smile.gif takes about 3 hours to replace halfshafts and that's if you have no clue what you are doing. i think its 4 bolts on the drivers side and 6 bolts on your passenger side and your halfshafts are out... if you ahve any more questions just hit me up

You know, I have the same problem with mine right now but its only to when i turn the wheel to the right...and i've already had my cv joints replaced. I've had 2 different people look at it and they have both said that my CVs and my bearings are both good but they don't know whats causing the noise...so it may not be your cv joints at all.

I took my car to a shop that specialized in rebuilding CV joints. I had mine rebuilt with a year warranty for $160 and im really happy with how they've held up. Raplacing them with new ones can get pretty expensive. I would try to find a place that specializes in rebuiling them and go with it.

Try to get a lifetime warranty on everything, I had to replace a "rebuilt" axle 3 times in 18 months, found out most of the cheaper rebuilts are just dropping new balls into the worn axle assemblies, adding grease and new boots, they dont last. If I do it again, I'll get new joints and put them on my axles or get a NEW aftermarket axle assembly, the new aftermarket ones are not that much more expensive, after the 3rd time I made them get me a new aftermarket assembly and paid about $50 more. (and with all the practice, I could change it in about 45 minutes:)

And the clicking IS most likely worn races and/or balls in the cv joints, no way to tell just looking at it.
