Alrighty, i ordered one A8000T audiobahn amplifier and AW1206T subwoofer from IKesound.com it's a 800W RMS amp @ 2 OHMS, and the sub is 1100 W RMS, which i can wire at 2 OHMS. I am planning on buying a Q-Logic or some sort of box to mount the sub in. Here's some pics of the sub and amp
I think im gonna get a professional to install it, since my parentals dont want me drilling into my firewall, and what not with the power for the amp. But i want some direction on where to mount the box, and amp, keeping in mind cooling for the amp (black plastic/interior, in mississippi) but also for use of the hatch, I also want to know angles for the sub to project into a hatch, and what not... any hints*tips*etc.... it'll all be greatly appreciated-THNX-BTW it's a 95 ST. I'm not really intereseted in SPL but more SQ, and I mostly listen to rock (incubus, blink 182, jimmy eat world etc...) but the occasional rap comes out ocassionally. |

You dont need to drill into your firewall. On the passenger side closer to the front windsheild there is a rubber boot, and you can run your power wire through that and it comes out behind your glove box. from there you can run it under your door sills; the large peice next to where your feet go just unscrews off, and the sills pop off. If it fits, you could mount your amp under the front seat. The drivers side has alot more room underneath it then the passenger side, so i would try the drivers side first. As for the box, it will probably sounds better facing the rear, and maybe at a slight upward angle. Youre more into sound quality though? If so, you bought the wrong kind of equipment.

you should have posted about getting a system before buying.... because you bought Crap.... you will not get any SQ out of that, and if you think you are.. then you are wrong... Audiobahn is crap... anyway... face the sub facing the back... do not have it facing the seats if it isnt a hatchback... you want to face it towards the back.. or even up... so it resonates off the glass/trunk.... also make sure you wire it Correctly and set the gains Correctly... the gains are not bass knobs.... do not turn them all the way up. also make sure you grind the paint down on your grounding point...... anything else you need to know ask us.

dont flame his stuff..
audiobahn is not the best.. but it probably would be good enough for his application. yes aim the subwoofer toward the back of the car or the glass. |

Thanks for the input, the purchase was spur of the moment, kinda. And i got it dirt cheep so Im satisfied. Any bass is better than what I got now (nothing). But which would be better mounting for the amp; under the seat, in the door panel (rear side, in the fenderwell), or in the hatch mounted to the box or near it, or attached to the rear seat back.?

never in the door panel... nor in the firewall, under the seat, or in the back is alright, as long as it gets air... i am personally not a big fan of screwing the amp to the box, because it can cause air leaks and such... you could use velcro.. or screw it to the false floor...

Do most you guys remove the spare tire in back to make room for a sub box? Anyone who managed to keep the spare tire?

I can't find a box the fits nicely with the spare tire. Probably going to make a custom box but I want to keep my spare tire in as well. Any one have any suggestions?

i bought a skinny wheel. the plan is to mount it behind the back seats as the install will fill my entire boot. if I need to get at it all I do is drop the seats from the inside

hey dude i have bascially the same unit. i same amp but different woofers. i got bestbuy to install it cause u have a lifetime warranty on there work which is cool if something messes up. also what i got done was the amp was mounted to the drivers side passenger seat along with the capacitator. and the box was mounted like couple inches away from it to the floor the vehicle in the back. i think it is cool and i got my audiobahn installed they dont sound bad. i mean if u are going preformace u went with the wrong brand but since u just want low end performance they arent bad. well not to me atleast

this is my box, my amp will go behind the subs, on the flat. it sits on top of the spare tire, and there are ~10cm high lengths of wood along the bottom (around the back) of the box, to keep it stable

nice sub. my friend has a similar system but with a bigger amp. a 2000 watt amp to be exact. it reminds me of janet jackson at superbowl.
