Well, you have a 99, so they should last you awhile. From what ive seen it tends to be people with older celis and stock shocks that run across problems with bumpiness due to a drop. Even then, a 1.5" drop wont do too much to upset the ride quality, as long as your shocks arent completely gone to begin with.

Im running 18"s witha 1.75" drop, and I feel everyyyyy bump, and my springs aren't even broke in yet, so they aren't at full drop height. But I have no rubbing.

Carefull boy !!!
I had bad experience with Mille Miglia Action in 17x7 on my ex-gti vr6.....Hit a hole and you bend a wheel....
And they do weight a lot more than your original wheels, so expect a performance drop. On my vr6, the performance drop was almost equal to the gain the Neuspeed chip gave me...about 5 small cars distance on a 0-160 run.

But don't listen to me too much cause all my theorys brought me to buy OZ Superleggeras , which are quite expensive...Most of the people I know don't have that much money to put in wheels (neither did I), but I bought those cause I was Tired of riding with square wheels and having to pay to put them in shape afterwards...

Don't worry with rubbing, geeee, there's a lot of space in those fenders......on my gti, I couldn't pass my small finger between the tire and the fender's edge....on my celica, way more space !!

hey there,
Had both 18 x 7.5(trm typhoon), and 18 x 8(alt xfiles) with ground controls fully dropped(i would estimate right around 2.5 inches), and never rubbed even with people in the rear. The main thing to watch is the offset of the wheel. If you go to www.tirerack.com you can search for wheels by car and if you call them they will give you the correct offset as well.
hope that helps
matt
p.s. i have had 19s mounted as well(axis hagens), and it didnt rub either!

I've got a set of Enkie Shoguns (17") on my car right now and Eibach sportline springs (~1.5" drop) and my ride quality isn't bad at all. As far as pot holes go, I've hit some bad ones but have never chipped or cracked my wheels from them. However I did do some damage the time I hit a curb when a dumbass person on a bicycle pulled out in front of me, so you'll have to watch out for that.

I have 17'' WHEELS and i have a 1.75'' drop - when someone is in the back (rarely) and i make a turn a liiiiiiitle bit to tight - it'll rub on the rear wheel wells.

I was gonna do 18's and probably a drop of like 1.5 later, but I was wonderin if people think that 17's look better than 18's on celicas? I've had some people that I talk to about it say that they think 18's would look too big for such a small car, but I dunno

I think 18's look good if you have a bodykit....otherwise i prefer 17's with a nice drop. 17's even work with a bodykit though....plus theyre much cheaper than a set of 18's. It all depends on what you like, though.
