what the original engine was replaced, and the current engine i have is really nice, but nobody knows what it is? it is the smoothest engine ive ever driven, 4 cylinder, says 16-valve EFI on it, any mechanic ive asked cant be sure, says its some type of acura or possibly toyota engine and they arent positive where it came from... the only time i had an exact guess was a person who is pretty savy with imports says its a mid 90s acura GSR type? does that sound right? thanks...

it looks like the one batman posted, did you say that engine came with the toyota? cause the kid who i originally bought the car from said he replaced the engine with an engine he believed to be from an acura

ahahahaha! wow. an acura?

anyways, if it looks like that. then it is a 7afe. I have one in my 94 st. oh and just so you know. I believe EFI is a toyota thing (just means Electronic Fuel Injection. But i've never seen it called that on anything else)

LMAO

Are you the chick that was emailing me a little while ago asking this same question? Kim or Kat or something like that?

Batman722, nice job with that engine bay.

*edit* By the way, if it's the smoothest engine you've ever driven, then it MUST be a TOYOTA!!! biggrin.gif wink.gif tongue.gif

the reason why i said its not as dumb as it sounds is cause im not one of those people who stops in here and says hey i have this year celica whats my engine? the person who put the engine in didnt know what kind of engine it was (i believe his dad did the work for him or something) he said he was pretty sure it was from an acura, hence my confusion, plus my buddy had a corolla with a similar looking engine and he said its an integra, so idk lol but thanks for the help guys

ps: i dont know if EFI is only for toyota... i think i saw EFI on a ford once? could be wrong, but i just needed to know the type of engine since i might be wanting to add a cold air intake

sorry, I was harsh.

I think EFI is used on at least a couple of brands, there's an old firebird my roommate drives and on the side it says "EFI electronic fuel injection"

Honda engines only say "Honda" or "VTEC" or both on the valve cover. And Honda's fuel injection is labeled PGMFI... but it's basically the same thing as most fuel injection systems. Different companies call it different things. Just FYI for future refrence.
