HI everyone,
my 5sfe has been dead for while. It can start up and run a little but mechanics told me I need a new engine. My tranny is still good. Does anyone know what kind of engine/year fit directly into my tranny with no mods.(i.e 5gc 5sfe 3sfe) I am trying to find a new engine that does not need many mods to fit. plz help if anyone has a motor that they know would fit or where i could get one, its pretty hard finding engines here in hawaii. try talking to the mechanic who will be putting in your new motor.
any year 5sfe will work, but a 94-95 would be perfect swap over. on a 96-99 you have to swap out the distributor (to go back to obd1) and some crappy egr sensor. reallly easy to do, just keep your stock wiring harness and ecu. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

ook i found a 94 celica motor but i am not sure if it is a st or gt will it matter? can a 94 st motor fit nicely on the 95 5sfe manual trans? and does it matter if the old trans was an automatic. Thanks for the reply |

a st motor will NOT fit on a gt tranny.
the engine does not matter whether it is automatic or manual. |

I just found a 5s-fe motor for sale from a 94 gt for $585 is this a good deal? Its used though |

fly me and the wifey out to hawaii for a week and i can drop it in for ya .... in 4 hours... then we can go cruisin the rest of the week.
just remember to put everything back the same way it came out. it is really just unbolting the old and bolting in the new. you will be able to see what needs to be done when you get your hands in there. hint... take the bumper, fenders, radiator out cause they just get in the way and you dont want to ruin anything! hint2... engine comes out easiest if you tilt the tranny toward the back of the driver side engine bay, and have the crank pulley toward the front of the car then lift it out. (tilt/lower the tranny side a few inches lower that the other engine side when lifting it out) hint3...getting the axles to pop out ( if you get stuck... pop the boot off and remove em) p.s. or you can have me do it for free... fly me out there!
