Hi guys, i know its along shot but i am looking into converting to awd
First off to even consider this i need somone with a gt4 to take pics of the underside of the car, in other words so i can see the axel and exhaust routing please try and pull up onto ramps or over a pit and take some pics for me, i would really appriciate it i know alot of guys say that it isn't worth going awd but please do not post that, i am only looking for some people that will be willing to help me, telling me it can't be done or it will cost a fortune will mean nothing to me, thanks a big problem is the gas tank i know but thats not a problem in my case\ as you can see the gas tank is gone. my biggest problem of coarse other than cost i believe is going to be room for both the tansfer case and drive shaft and exhaust this is why need pics. it would be great if someone had pics of a gt4s interior with all seats and carpet gone but i can work with underside pics. I don't know if the gt4 has adifferent floor pan to accomodate the drive shaft or not i also have another question does anyone know if the tein ss coilovers will work on a gt4, or do they have a diff set for the gt4 the front should be exactly the same if i'm correct. but the back may be diff i'm not sure thanks for any help guys oh and what do you think about my interior now -------------------- |

wow man, looks like you are serious. i looked into this when i was doing my swap because i had the full awd diff and drive shaft.. ill post some pics on my reasearch.
make sure that you have someone who has done this type of thing before to help you. its totally possible to do, but you have to make sure everything is 100% even so the car drives right. -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

and finally, the rear of my celica gt... as u can see once the tank and rear trunk are out (like in your car) all you have to do, is weld in the rear, or figure out some type of bracket system.

thanks man thats awsome
well def looks like i will need like 99% of the rear end from a gt4 pretty much just minus body and frame looks like there will be alot of cutting and welding involved also so the fuel tank is all the way in the back, i gues the gt4 doesn't have the spare tire well like us. hm. -------------------- |

for the gas tank, your best bet is to get generic racing fuel cell and mount it in the trunk. i some more pics somewhere, have to search for them...
edit: why are you worried about coil overs? you got lots of work on your hands before u have to worry about crap like that This post has been edited by lagos: May 29, 2005 - 11:44 PM -------------------- 15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned

Good luck celicaracer. I hope you do this. The cynic in me says it won't happen but I hope you prove me wrong. Done correctly, it would be very unique and in the U.S. and something to be proud of.

thanks guys,
yeah i figured that about the spare. and i'm not saying i am for sure doing this i am just saying i am going to try, the work done to the underside and back had nothing to do with awd just something i was doing and when i got everything out a freind suggested going awd so i am pricing right now, i know its very possible it all depends on how much money i'm willing to pour into it, and thats what i have to see before i even start to try this. popstar - if you could get a pic just like the very last one shown (looking staight foward undernieth the car) it would be great thanks again guys -------------------- |

The front suspension is quite similar to the fwd celica. I have a 1994 Celica st and I'm using st185 front struts. The hubs are the same too, b/c the outer shaft of the axles are the same. So yes you would be able to use a coilover kit, (there will be a little grinding either way to make the coil sit on the strut bottom)

Hi celicaracer. Below is a post from the gt4oc based in the uk. It is from a guy in cyprus who done the same thing you are thinking of. He documented it step by step and even added lots of pics as he went along. The thread doesn't really get started till halfway down the page so just ignore the first 5 or 6 posts
![]() I hope this helps you in your pursuit for power and awd turbo action ![]() http://www.gt4oc.net/viewtopic.php?t=16131&highlight=cyprus Cheers Melly -------------------- ![]() |

Superstruts are a pain. I honestly wouldn't bother unless you have to. -------------------- JDM ST205

Mr e we are compareing front suspension of a st205 to a at200
not st185 and all i want to know if every thing mounts to the same place on the car. i would be getting a complete kit with all new struts, springs and tie rod ends. -------------------- |
