ok well i just got back from florida for my vacation.

on the way there my friend in the back asked me to throw away a can, i was in the passenger seat. i thew it away (outside). bout 1/2 an hour later we see an undercover cop on the side...it came out after us. then we see an SUV k9 unit and 2 other cop cars. they pulled us over, told the driver to get out of the car. then a cop came up to me asked me where the alcohol was....i said there was none. then he asked me y i threw a can out the window. i said i didnt, he said he has a witness that called out tags in about littering... i told them i didnt do it. so basically he gave the driver a ticket for 85 in 70 and me a littering ticket. but the son of a biatch cop said i cant prepay and i gotta go back to georgia on Aug 17. im gonna be outta the country then.

so im gonna call them and ask if i can prepay, cause im not goin back down to gorgia.

any suggestions?

First, who calls in littering, jeez some ppl are anal.

Second, I suggest never lying to a cop. He obviously knew you threw the can out. And this was on the highway? If your throwing stuff out the window on the highway you deserve a smack. And I dont see why you'd have to go down to court for littering, what does the instructions say on the ticket.

I cant believe someone called your tags in...wow...Isn't it against the law in some states to talk on ur cell phone while driving? Whoever called it in could have been breaking the law too There needs to be a bumper sticker made saying something like "call my tags in & you will have bad sex for 10 years" no one wants to have bad sex haha...

The thing that pisses me off the most is when smokers throw their "butts" out the window & it sparks all over the ground. I hate when they do that! They not only blow smoke in our face but they throw their butts @ our cars too...grrrr

Ya man never lie to a cop. Bad turnouts in the end. I no. I really cant believe that there makin u go back down for litterin. Try calling and explainin to them that ur leaving and maybe the'll let u prepay. Its worth a try. Thats all that i can do. Srry if it didnt help. Good luck with everything. peace. -john

You need to talk to the prosecutor. Look at your ticket and see what county it is. Then google the county to get the information. Ask for the district attorney's office (some states they are called prosecutors, some state's attorneys). Then, when you call there, ask for the prosecutor in charge of misdeamenors. Tell the guy you are from out of state and would like to resolve it without going to Georgia. Ask them what the fine would be? The should allow you to plead guilty by mail. Good luck.

you would win if you took it to court. they have no witness to testify that you in fact did throw it out. the cop cant for sure. its two citizens words against each other. unless they picked up the pop can as evidence and want to spend the money fingerprinting it, etc.

they have to find that you beyond a reasonable doubt that you threw that pop can out.

it is easy to beat the cops tickets if you know something about the law and have the patience to take it to court.

That's what I was thinking. It's not right to litter, but I don't think the ticket they gave you will stand up in court.

So would this be karma?

oh.. .and to answer the real question this thread was started for.... yes you can postpone a court date however i dont believe that littering would be a manditory appearance

why would you litter in the first place. and as for the ticket... u littered so thats what you get. its fair

If you think calling is bad, you should see my dad. He caries a gun in the car for people who litter. He's followed people to there houses when he's seen them throw stuff out the window. This is no joke, my dad is kinda crazy. People, please don't litter. One day, someone like my dad will see you.

EDIT: Just to clear things up, to my knowledge, Dad has never shot someone. He threatens though.
EDIT 2: You deserved the ticket, and any trouble that comes with it.

In all honest you pwnt yourself. Which is worse... littering and making someone clean it up or psychos running around with guns threatening people?

um honestly your a dumbass, you shouldnt go to someone else's state and trash it. thats just disrespectful. Why would you throw trash out your window anyways lazyass?

Someone running around with a gun threatening people is worse. I didn't say it was right, I was just pointing out the fact that he does it. It's not all the time, most people out my road know better.

5) andason is right you'll win in court unfortunatly cause they don't have a witness to testify ( i doubt that person would come to testify against you)

6) suck it up and pay for it cause you did do sumthing wrong.....end of story be a grown up accept the consiquences for your actions
