Guys......I don't know how to drive a stick but I wanna learn. I wanna get a 3sgte with a manual conversion and was wondering what you guys think. Someone told me to sell my car and get a manual.....and that I might do (even though I just bought this car about two months ago) But if you guys think it would be better. Then please by all means let me know. Also....how much of a hassle is it to convert it from auto to manual?

You've done step one, admitting it. 3sgte wont be itself w/o manual -

don't learn on the 3sgte...that'd be baaaaad for clutches. smile.gif. really the only way you can do it is to find someone w/ a nice little 4cyl car/truck w/ a 5spd. buuuuut, one thing, is that you need know that all 5spds are gonna drive differently, so that no matter what you learn on, something else is going to be different, sometimes drastically. smile.gif.

either find a friend with a MT who will let you grind his gears for a few weeks (literally wink.gif ) OR find an arcade with ferarri F355 challange, thats the CLOSEST game ive ever found to being a real stickshift and probably one of the most realistic racing games ive ever seen.

I just saw other people drive sticks all my life and when it was my turn I jsut got behind the wheel, killed it twice, and then off I went. I just knew how.... all i needed was to put what I knew and put it in practice. btw I did all that in a friends 9? nissan sentra se-r, all with the parking brake on! So i learned with heavy restriction so I dont get why yall make it seem like its rocket science...

It's scary when you actually think about trying to do all that while driving in traffic in the rain, things like that. When you tell people that once they get it it's like second nature, well that's hard to believe. Someone told me that once and i was like "your outta your mind" two days later i was never home wink.gif

I just took my first manual lessons on my friends crx. He uh... said he could feel a difference when I was done. But it's easy to stall the car. Just remeber you got nothing to prove.

there is no way I would ever let anyone learn stick on my car. unless mb it was a hot girl, and she'd have to be pretty fine for my tranny to take that kind of abuse.

anyway, if you are serious try getting a rental or take a dealership car for a test drive. its good knowing you can beat the crap out of the car without consequences.

I learned on a Acura Integra and the clutch was pretty much the same. It only took me a week and two stalls to get down first gear. Now I drive stick everyday and wouldn't have it any other way.
