Hi Folks,
Bought a new CD player for the car to replace this twin combo JDM Pioneer twin system (Radio/cassette and Graphic EQ), which was basically pants as in the UK the FM band is broader (?). The resulting hole is huge in my central console. Do you know if Toyota (in the UK) do anything like blanking audio plates or (better still) some kind of replacement adaptor kit for new players as it looks really pants. (I was thinking of sticking a spindle across it and sticking a bog roll in it and using it as a bog roll dispenser it is so cr@p looking....lol). At the moment the player is wired up and loose as I need something as the original brackets are wierd and is just dumped in this hole on my dash and looks really sad. Any suggestions? Jaq1967 |

you can try what i did with my dash panel, take a piece of plastic and super glue it to the back of the panel and put bondo over the top, smooth it out and paint it, take a look at my profile and you willl see the gauges that i installed in the the same place

A good idea, but was looking to see if there was something available more commercially (even mail order!) before I mess about with Blue Peter ideas.
Nice job though...got any daytime flicks? Jaq1967 |

Check this guys page out, he has a "DIN-sized CD-console for storing up to 4 CDs, the latter has Toyota part # PZ437-90341.00 (17/02/2002) ". It's about a third of the way down the page.
http://home.online.no/~jinnset/celica.htm I don't know how easy it is to get, but it looks okay and is kinda useful. -------------------- |

The stock just tape player, not double din cd/tape came with a little box under the radio. From the dealer its $25, what I was quoted. The brackets from the side of your stock radio should screw into the after market radio on top and the box screws into the bottom half...
edit: thats in US dollars and from the US dealer This post has been edited by Chrobis: May 6, 2003 - 11:30 PM |

Just an after thought!
That CD holder looks cool and probably what I would go for. But... my car being a RHD do you think I will still be able to mount it in the bracket as I noticed it is a bit back-to-front! :-S Jaq1967 |

Good question. Looking at pic and description I would assume it is a standard DIN sized component made to fit in any standard celica stereo mount - but definately check this with your toyota dealer. Let us know how you get on -------------------- |

Thanks for that and I went to my Toyota Main Dealer and gave him that part number. I thought I'd give it a go. They have them in stock in the UK and should have my hands on it this Friday. Will let you know exactly what it is. Why 'exactly' you ask? Toyota have it labled as an 'Audio Accessorie' - which could be anything!!! lol...
Well took the gamble and the cosy is £39.95 (inc tax - about US$60.00). A lot of money and non refundable if wrong! Nevermind...but looks cool and work the money in my opinion. Jaq1967 |

Got that expensive piece of plastic today and fitted it!
It is a VERY stylish piece of plastic and feel like it is WORTH the money spent as it is well made and VERY useful. My hole is filled and it looks lovely! Jaq1967 Can post a photo of it if you want or email me and can send you it through that! Thanks again for the BRILLIANT idea. |

hey great to hear it all worked out
As a win-win suggestion, you could post this in the 6GC Parts Database, and maybe even make a quick How To article as well. That way we all get to see the part and the finished product, and you'll get to upload more photos in your profile - at least according to question/answer 4 here: 6GC Website FAQs -------------------- |
