my dumb ass hit a curb the other night, but there is no noticable vibration under 60mph. on highway speeds, however, the car shakes pretty bad, and the steering wheel vibrates even worse. although i didnt look too closely, there doesnt seem to be and visible dents to my rim(s) on the passenger side. is there anything i can do myself or anything an auto shop can do for relatively cheap that will fix the problem. im guessing its just a very slightly bent rim.

Jack up your car and by hand rotate the wheels. If it isn't straight you got a dented rim. My car was like that when I bought it too. Even tho the rims look ok, they aren't!

Wouldn't he have to rotate the wheels fast enough to simulate the amount of rotations one would normally get in 3rd gear at 60 mph?

But I agree, you don't have to be able to SEE anything for the rim to be dented, which is exactly what it sounds like

Could be your control arm(I think that what it called)?
Best to bring it in to a wheel place so they can look at it.

Edit: Could it also be that your alignment is out? which will cause the steering wheel to vibrate? I'm just throwing ideas out. So dont shoot me...

if you bent your suspension arm #2, if got a spare.

well the verdict is that the front right rim is slightly bent and the rear right rim is very slightly bent. are there any common shops that can repair wheels? if not, what is the cheapest/best online place? thanks ahead for any input.

There is a place in Kansas City that will straighten your bent rims (to a point without busting them). I'd call around to different wheel shops, see if they do repairs.

Or it could be that the bearing got tore up a little from the jolt. Happened to my dumbass too, had to replace the hub and bearing and wheel., but it is fine now.

how much was the bearing and hub, and how hard was it to replace?

Well, i had a dealership do it so i got screwed over mostly.

But, the hub and bearing are around 150-200 bucks. and install was like 400.

Its a bit of work unfortunately, because the hub is pressed into the bearing, and then that is pressed into the watcha call it thing, unfortunately i forget.

But after i took my car into a curb, the wheel would wobble at just about any low speed, and i didn't dare take it to a high speed.

toyota quoted me 320 for the hub and bearing and that was at cost. i got a used one from coomer for 75 and put it on myself. its not that hard if you have air tools.

u know what's insane? i recently hit a curb too & my caster is WAY off on the left side...hope nothing is BeNT! anyways-that would really suck but now there is NO VIBRATION anymore!! isn't that the oddest crap ever?

Could be that you broke off one of the little weights that balence the wheel, that would case it to shake only at higher speeds, I would check that before anything else.

I finaly got my car fixed again. Had the wheel baring replace,d said the hub was fine.It drives much better and smoother, but a lil pooping around hard turns.. Im sick of cars.. Cause I nor three other mechanics can figure it out.. but I just might be going crazy.

Haha. Maybe bring an extra pair of pants with you?
