i have a 94 st with 200k miles on it, and i need to do somethiong fast, dont wanna go all out with the gte engine cuz i know whats involve but the 20v black top seems like a lot of fun, i know it lacks low end torque but arent there certain upgrades to bring that up a bit to make it more of a reasonable daily driver? should i? or should i just get the gze engine. the black top would be cheaper for me though

DO IT! :-) It's always cool to say you have a supercharger and everything but the 20V blacktop is awesome. go for it. i think you'd be the first with the blacktop in a celi. then i'll be the second! lol. i think theres like 5 silvertops and 2 gze's in 6GC's. by the way, where did you find a blacktop front clip for cheaper than a gze? over here, gze's are cheaper.

6 speed's are really nice. Get those tranny if you can. You could probbaly even run open throttles since you have a MAP instead of the usual MAF.

also later in life if you need more speed, aren't blacktops easier to turbocharge?

However, The blacktop 4A-GE has weaker, lighter internals which can't take boost as well as silvertop internals. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

hey coomer, i remember talking to you about this a long long time ago when i was an active member in this forum and others, but how did your swap come out? is the lack of low end power REALLY that noticable the money spent isnt really worth it? i had thought about just going turbo on the existing engine, but as far as reliability, well, there is none you know what i mean. so i guess would it be worth getting the black top or just the silver and work that up? and as far as how i can get it cheaper, lets say i know a guy who does bad things, therefore i got him by the nuts....

The lack of low end power is very noticable. Off the line, my car is slow until it hits the higher RPMs in first gear. Then with every close-to-redline shift I'm placed in the good powerband for the next gear. But yeah, there's definitely very little low end power. When you're just cruising along and want to move quick, you definitely have to downshift a gear or two to get some good power.
If you're looking for a drag racing engine, the 20V is not the cheap way to go. But if you want an awesome N/A engine with great throttle response, good upper RPM power then the 20V 4A-GE is an excellent choice. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

How much hp potential does a 4agze engine have if you keep the supercharger and just upgrade it from there? Is there a better more powerful supercharger that could replace the stock one?

well from what i know there are very few aftermarket superchargers and they are very $$$ thats why alot of guys just go 4agze then turbo you get more power at less cost but its a trade off you loss the low end power from the super and gain good mid and great top end you can get close to 200 whp with the stock unit witha better pulley and some other little add ons or just sell the super and buy turbo set up -------------------- yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

Never heard about the Previa thing. Sounds possible tho. I know of several manufacturers of pulleys for the SC. I think the name of the SC on the GZE is SC12, so you can basically look for it like that. Club4AG says you can get 195HP out of the GZE easily. Many people do ditch the SC for the turbo but IMO its better to keep the SC because the whole point for me to get a GZE is for the low rev power that you can't really get from a turbo in most cases. I plan on keeping it stock the way it is when I put it in the Celi and then upgrade a bit with headers intake exhaust and along the wya might go with the hks twincharger(super+turbo). depends how things are. but i've been wanting to find about the SC too. searched on club4ag but couldnt find it. I'm pretty sure you could put a better SC on there.
