see the thing is west minist, that yes, a programmable EMS is the right answer to all the issues. however, that's another 2K that people don't have to spend on the swap. it's usually difficult enough to get the engine in the first place. also, the v6 isn't a performance engine, so i don't see why you'd want to go standalone, especially if you keep it stock. -------------------- 1994 Lexus ES300

Come come Charlie.
That type of swap is a special job. You know and I know, that this swap is fairly complex. In that complexity, there is the aftermarket computer. Standalone shows promise. It has the cc and from what Turbo magazine that done to it is nice. Personally, If I had the choice, I would have both world. On weekends, a 500+ Celi and due boring week days, a Celi with v6. That nice beautifly sound. Thats it. My book is close. Nice thread and we all will look forward to the progress of this project by turbo magazine. |

I've been thinking about this swap for a while, and my conclusion up to now is to buy a whole camry and swap all i need from the camry to the celi, and all from the celi to the camry......so you don't mess with fuel pumps, ecu and all stuff, cause you all have the original stock. And as long as i know, a camry and a celi are pretty similar. Then I get a 5sfe camry for winter or for sale, and that isn't that bad cause camrys where produced with 5sfe.....
Of course, this is all made by myself only, cause I don't pay myself......and i do have a mechanical engineering technicien formation too, and access to proper tooling......It is just lot of time, so a winter project. But I still haven't open the hood of a camry to take measurements.......just saw pictures and it all looks pretty similar. And this is not to get modified ! geeee, you have 200 hp and torque stock, I don't need more..... The solara v6 manual makes 0-60 in near 7 sec......that's ok for me and this is my goal. And the aluminium v6 doesn'y weight enough more then the steel 5sfe so you stay with the same suspension.....just swap the battery in the trunk.... So open the race for the first v6 6th gen celica !!! What actually slow me down is money ! Hey ! like everybody ! And to find those rare v6 manual camry..... |
