hey guys, last week i got my 17's fitted, today i got the car dropped via spring compression (the springs i had were already heavy duty low springs and i really, really want the car to be lower than low) everytime i accelerate hard, the whole car vibrates like well a vibrator.......
the wheels are balanced and aligned, hub rings fitted, i cant seem to find why the car is shaking so bad when i go hard!!!!! plz help!!! this whole wheel changing process is really giving me the $hits, one problem to another, i've blown my budget to all proportions........the car looks much better tho!!! any help would be much appreciated! thanks fellas |

did you check and make sure nothing is loose? when you had your springs done?

My cat back piping is touching the frame somewhere and always vibrates when i start from 1st gear. Hopefully when I get my new muffler welded on it will go away..

Where are the vibrations coming from? front or back? does it happen when u rev it up in neutral?

the vibrations seem as though they are comming from the two front wheels, could it be that my shocks or struts which are stock standard are damaged? there is no vibration when i accelerate in neutral which might rule out exhaust noise.
a description of the vibration would be like that when u are driving on unbalabced wheels at over 120km/h (100mph i think!) the car then goes smoothly as long as i dont accelerate hard. Think i might have to change shockers.... thanks for all ur help so far guys, some more input would be greatly appreciated. |

got the diagnosis today , new driveshaft required.....
next pobably new shocks......talk about really blown budget........... got quoted AU$480 for reconditioning which is a pretty expensive, ill shop around abit more.... anyone know how much i should be looking at? man, didnt know changing wheels can be so much fun |

a new driveshaft eh? Didn't know our FWD cars had driveshafts unless you're talking about drive axles/halfshafts...

yeah its the CV's, the protective boot around it is fukd, theres oil all over the under body gaurd. Havnt had time to look around for prices, doesn't it sh!t ya when u want something done so badly but have to let it wait...

BTW: An entire axle (which includes inner and outer CV boots) should only cost around $75 USD for parts. You're getting majorly screwed there.

From personal experience, the $75 ones are junk, had to warranty the right one on my other car 3 times in 14 months, finally bought a new assembly instead of rebuilt. I would get a NEW joint and install it on my old axle if I were doing it. they arent all that hard to change once the axle is out, a couple of clamps on the boot and and a couple of snap rings. May even want to repack the other one and put on a new boot while you have the axle out.

Yeah, easy once they're off. Getting them off is the hard part. Not having access to a lift severely impinges on the job

if your lookin for CV joints, They have a place in BR called CV plus, they carry CV joints and they are a distributor, so you can get them really cheap, although there is a 100.00 core costs (which means that when you take them off and put the new ones on, if you bring them the old ones they give you your 100.00 dollars back)..really great place, I have personally used them before. the number is 225-923-0023
I'm not sure If they ship, but its worth a try. Hope everything goes for the best. -Luke |
