Which is better? The one that routes under the fuse box into the driver side fender? or the one that routes the filter to those two scoops cutout of the plastic floor in the bottom of the hood?

Im sorta confused, what do you mean 2 scoops on the hood? Celica doesnt come with scoops usually. I've got mine feeding under the battery then making a turn so it fits basically where the stock instake would come from. If you go under the fuse box ull end up in the same spot. If you try to go straight down under the battery and end it there you will run out of room for a filter.

Now, if your hood has scoops that would work, then use that.

i'm not sure where that second location is you are talking about..

but I ran it under the fuse box and into fender.. I figured thats where i'm getting the coldest air plus it was pretty easy to run..

there is a plastic "floor" piece under the car that has two cut outs in it. You can see them if you look at the floor in the space between the battery and the engine. I drew an arrow on the pic to show you where I'm talking about cuz I can't find the pic that I got the idea from.....





I will take pics of the exact spot on my car soon and show you.

Is it a pain to remove to the panel inside the fender? I like to clean and recharge my K&N filter every 3k miles.

the thing that i noticed about running it where you want to djultimate is that the piping runs right next to the exhaust manifold and that gets pretty hot which heats up the intake which gives u hot air. jaws' is good and i believe there is a how to in the sticky. looks like a smart way to go

I think he is talking about two little cut-outs in the plastic guards underneath the car.

Also he has an ST, not a GT. The intake will sit a bit farther away from the headers. Let me see if I can fish up a pic of mine..

well I would have to say the best place to put the filter would be the fender maily because I would feel very nurvous with a filter that low to the ground getting hit and punctured by rocks or sucking in water and destroying the motor (I have knolige in the sucking-in-water catigory)

would can always divert air up into the filter in the fender from the front bumper anyway so its probibly the best for that as well.

Dude, if I were you, I'd be really worried about hyrdolock with that setup. You should change it or get a bypass valve.

The only way I could get hydrolocked is if I am driving through some big-ass puddles... which I'm not. I do want to get a bypass valve though, because once I lower it, things will be a whole lot closer.

my cai runs down the center (you can take a look at my profile) and TURNS>>putting the filter under the battery box (not to far down though)

. . . btw, heat raises...so the exhaust does not play a role in this. . . (unless you position it right next to it...lol...)

Id recommend going straight under the battery and then curving the pipe so that it fits under the driver side fender. Thats where mine is sitting at the moment.

check out my how to thread. There we had a discus. about y under the fuse box is better. After all the stock airbox gets cold air from there anyway.
