the speakers in the doors are 6.5" circular speakers, right? so if you you buy 6.5" aftermarket speakers, they should fit right? well, mine don't! toyota made their 6.5" speakers extended on the sides so that they could bolt onto the support thing that holds the speaker in place. this is a real pain in the @$$ for me because i took my whole door panel off to find out that i was not going to be able to put in my new speakers.

knowing that all our cars are pretty much the same, and that many of you have after market speakers in your doors...how did you get yours to fit? i'm desperate!

this is very common as its happened to everyone.......do a search the information is there....i even think there is a HOW-TO in the HOW TO section....

easy way is go down to home depot or sumthing and buy a lexan/plastic type piece (should be hard and about 1/4" thick) (you can even steal a tray from taco bell).......cut out a 6.5" center hole
and then cut it to fit the stock bracket screw the speaker to the piece then screw the piece to the stock bracket wala!

If you don't feel confident enough to make your own you can buy these from crutchfield.

A better option is to have a piece of MDF as spacer.

I think Bigfoot is blurry, that's the problem. It's not the photographer's fault. Bigfoot is blurry. And that's extra scary to me, because there's a large, out-of-focus monster roaming the countryside.

I bought them of eBay for about $7. They work for the 6GC and some years of the Corvette.

Yeah, I did the same as Cutrara, bought them from ebay. Theyre plastic, and they say they fit the Celica, and Corvette. Just make sure to seal these with silicon or something when you install them.

I used 1/4" plywood and siliconed them into nice little boxes. Sound good car in general has good acoustics.

i think that since it is a 8" hole a 8 inch sub running as a mid @ 4 ohms (not amped) would sound best with a component set of tweeters. that's what i am waiting on. also some of the higher end newer celicas come with 8 inch mids already included.
