why would you buy a GT clip to swap into your ST?
unless you're trying to have a 3S swapped GT and a 5S using ST...i'm lost. -------------------- ![]() |

why 5sfte over 3sgte in your st? just curious. seems to me the 3s swap would be easier and comparable in price if your going with a new turbo setup. not to mention, 3sgte will be more powerful and reliable in the long run. if you just want a quick car, 5sfte into an st sounds like a hassle when the 7afte can put up some good numbers, just ask nik or doggy.

yea i been talking to nik...but i want the torque of that 5s. I been looking at the prices for 3s....they asking alot. If i blow up the a 5s...i can always run out the a junk yard and get another one. But the 3s...its a wrap...im looking to spend another 3 grand. My cousin just finish building his 5s....and he is tearing sht up in new york. I'd be very happy with his performance. Im not looking to build the fastest thing in the world....i jsut want to make sure the honda club knows wus up
![]() So thats why im looking for a 5s. know where i could find one?? ![]() |

I believe the 5s swap into an ST would be just as difficult as a 3s swap concerning wiring, mounts, etc. You might as well sell your ST and buy a GT and go from there.

Hey, I'm in the Central New York area and I currently am thinking about selling my 5th gen Celica GT(ST 184). Send me a message on AIM if you're at all interested. i4m130123d
Im mainly just seeing what I could get for my car if I wanted to sell it (which I do plan on before summer anyways) and put that money down towards a 240sx or perhaps a DSM and a reliable daily driver. |

also ur logic doesn't make much sense
yes a 5S-FE CAN be had for $400, but most junkers prob would want $600-800 for the engine. a 3S short block can be had for just as cheap. -------------------- ![]() |

well i'll take that 2.2 bottom end. i love that torque. I belive a properly worked 5s is nothing to play with...and this is what i want to set up. If we take a 5s and a 3s running the same stock 7psi....the 5s will take it. i dont plan to run more than 10 psi....and thats well with in the range of the 5s. if i want to run 15 or higher then you're right i would go with the 3s...but i am content. like i said...im not looking to set up a super car...just something with balls.

QUOTE(vangSTa_celica @ Jan 31, 2006 - 12:21 AM) I believe the 5s swap into an ST would be just as difficult as a 3s swap concerning wiring, mounts, etc. You might as well sell your ST and buy a GT and go from there. Minus the intercooler and piping fabrication, that's pretty much correct. The engine is also much cheaper. If you have the time and space, it's not a bad swap to do. But if you're looking for serious power, you're going to need to spend another $3000 or so. What about the 1MZFE V6 swap? THAT would give you some torque! ![]() -Doc -------------------- -Dr Tweak, 6GC's resident engine swap wiring expert extraordinaire Click here to see my swaps drtweak@phoenixtuning.com |
