FWD cars can be sporty yes, but IMO none are true sports cars. Yes the VR4 3000GT and GSX (not the GST) Eclipses are a little closer to sports car because theyr'e AWD, but true sports comes in the line of NSX, Corvette, Supra, S2000, Cobra R, Porsche 911, Lotus Elise, etc. And to the guy who thought the Lotus Elise was FWD...I hope that was just a misunderstanding haha and thank you -------------------- ![]() |

Really though, sport or not I only consider it a sport car if the engine runs on Premium, has kik a55 features (20V!!!), or is slapped by a turbo. Thats why the celica is not a sports car....Otherwise I would have to pay the price of a sports car....Insurance-wise

I would like to bring a car that most considers a true sports car, the Corvette, it's 2 door, 2 seat, RWD, handles good for it's weight, runs on premium, and in all it's a true sports car, one problem though is that the 1984 Vette came with a dual throttle body Crossfire 350 that only produced 205 horsepower, now this is a true sports car design yet even a 130hp Celica GT can give it a good run on the track. It's a matter of opinion and even though the '84 was lacking on power it didn't make it any less a sports car, but motor isn't everything.
Also insurance isn't the best judge, I had a '96 Mustang vert V6 that had higher premiums than a Viper, insurance uses a points scale based on different stats (amount of wrecks, vehicle thefts, crash ratings, etc.) . The SN-95 convertible had one of the worst crash ratings for a vert, it also was a lot more common meaning they're in more wrecks, then the Mustang is one of the most stolen vehicles in the US. Insurance doesn't base anything on power now, it's to difficult since you could have a V8 with 145hp and a 4 cylinder with 230hp. This post has been edited by darksecret: Feb 8, 2006 - 5:57 PM |

hey guys, you seem to forget that there is also the GT4. And i dont think that anybody is really trying to say that the GT4 is not a sports car. Hint: WRC champion and ralying is a sport.
Therefore, a sports car should be considered any kind of car that is built to be able to participate in racing and in general offer the driver something more than moving him from one place to the other. |

It's only a matter of time before you see one of them in every town as well. Now here's some trivia: how many Enzo's are being made? |
