question for you guys. i've got a 94 celica gt, auto, w/o ABS. driving aroung the city, there are no noises except for an occasional knock from the drivers side. i did pull the driver's side wheel off and clamp holding the CV boot on was loose, so i tightened it using the Toyota clamp tool. granted i know i had lost a lot of grease already, so i don't drive it much, i drive my b/f's car.
my question is, could this vibration, which is speed sensitive be the driver's side CV? we are going to head out to the pick-n-pull today to grab some 5th gen mirrors, a new intake boot, and a driver's side axle as i did have to drive 1500 miles from boston to West Palm Beach with this problem. so it is probably pretty screwed up right now. i've read the best way to get the axle out is to pull like a mofo, a pry-bar, tire-iron, etc. and i already have a DIY for putting it back in. but any other tips would be appreciated. also, are there any axles from other models that wold fit the same? like a camry, corolla, MR2? thanks in advance. -------------------- 94 Black Celica GT, Auto, 5th gen mirrors that's all...

does the steering wheel vibrate or the car, cause once ur going fast and your steering wheel vibrates, your rims are prolly bent, if that is so than you should swap ur front tire with ur back tire and see if the steering wheel vibrates again or if you hear a sound, if you dont than the rim you put in the back is prolly bent

Make sure your wheel is on tight. And tighten the bolts in a star pattern, or cross like.

QUOTE(chacha @ Feb 20, 2006 - 4:55 PM) could be alignment needed to be adjusted... he has already alligned it, balanced and rotated the tires, checked for bends etc. we did that in boston, then drove down to West Palm Beach and the problem was not fixed. we got everything apart except for the shaft in the tranny. our 1/2" breaker bar split in half taking off the 30mm bolt on the spindle, but we ended up wusing a 5 foot pipe to break it lose. all our pry bars wouldn't get it lose, so he is heading to the store to get another one and try from both sides. i get to take his car tomorrow to go Venice! god i love turbos! either way, hopefully he will have that replaced and everything back assmbled by the time i get back. any advice would help. on a side note, we also picked up a set of 5th gen mirrors and i'll install those tomorrow before i leave! -------------------- 94 Black Celica GT, Auto, 5th gen mirrors that's all...

Try centering rings( around $15 ) and if you have aftermarket rims they are some times not really straight, so have it checked. I had a same vibration problem on my steering wheel and I just swap the rims for a Motegi's and everything is perfect now. GOOD LUCK...

if ur wheels vibrating, ur in allaignment, ur ballanced n every thing..replace ur PS belt. My car used 2 vibrate like mad at about 100KM/H..or 62MPH. Like if i was driving for more than an hour at that speed my arm would fall asleep from the vibration..lol. But yea after i got my cylinderhead fixed, my mechanic noticed my PS belt was cracked and about 2 break, he changed it..every thing is fine now.

I'm having the same problem. Vibration under load. If going over 50mph, giving throtle I get a bad vibration in the front end. I had both front axle assembles replace due to bad CV joints a year ago. Had the tires balanced two weeks ago. Had the "cracked" rear motor mount replaced last week and it is still doing it. It happens on the expressway going up hill. It is a 94 Celica GT, automatic. I shifted into nuetral the other day while it was vibrating at 65mph and it immediatly went away. Put it back in Drive, give it gas and it starts vibrating again. This car used to run as smooth as silk and still does in neutral! I'm starting to think it is front wheel bearings? If my mechanic gets it fixed I'll let you know what the problem was.

haha my VDUB has the same stupid issue i was figuring it was the cv boot...
but jack up the car and place your hands at 3 and 9 push in and out if you can bearings are probably shot but they are cheap to replace. only things that come off the top of my head are 1)alignment 2)balance 3)CV 4)bearings |

The car is in the shop today. I've talked to quite a few people about the problem. A couple people are suggesting that is the flywheel. They say it could be a cracked flywheel, broken bolt, or loose bolts where it bolts to the torque converter. Based upon the symptoms, that seems like a possiblity!

Mechanic called and said they put the car on the rack and see some wobble in the front right axle (that was replaced last year). They are going to replace it "under warranty". They should have it fixed this afternoon. Hopefully this fixes the problem! He did check the bearings and said they were fine.

If some of you guys have vibration problem with aftermarket rims, GET hub centering rims! they are a necessity!!! Even with tight lug nuts, the wheel will move out of its center and make bad vibration at those speeds.

It was the bad right front axle. They replaced it and rebalanced the tires. No Charge! I just drove it back to work and it was smooth as silk. Had it up to 90mph just to test it out and no vibration. I like my Celica again!
