ok this is what is going on. i have a 94 celica st (7afe) and the #1 cyl. is not firing. Fuel is getting to it, there is compression (250 psi), there is a spark, but when i remove the spark plug and place it in the boot for seeing if there is a spark by grounding it to the block, it fires from the threads!!! i have changed the spark plugs, and i have swapped them with other cylinders. i have swapped wires. then today i jumped the diagnostic port t1 and te1, and a code flashed. the code is continual flashing, what could this cody be, and what is my problem. Please help. thanks

250PSi is a lil high for the 7A. my compression is usually around 180PSI

Doesn't continuous flashing mean that it has no codes to throw? I could be wrong. good luck.

I think on my 5s w/ 190k miles had a compression of only 170. I'm no mechanic, but that seems a little off.

Yep compression of 250 is high
I agree with SR10PSI should be arounbd 180 PSI.
What did all the other cylinders get?

how are you grounding the spark plug?

maybe that 250 psi is a little high, maybe it was read wrong. i am grounding the spark plug to the bolt on top of the valve cover. also yesterday i ran the car for about 5 minutes with the dead cylinder, and there wasnt any gas on the plug. but when i placed my ear right next to the injector, i can hear it opening and closing. Now i am thinking that it might be a fuel problem. BUT the other 3 cylinders are getting fuel. hmmmm leave me some feedback. Thanks

If the spark is going from the threads of the plug then it is taking the easiest ground out. When the plug and wire is in the whole it maybe grounding to the tube. See if you can get the plug to spark like it is supposed to.

if you want to you can use a stethescope to actually hear if the injectors are actually opening or closing

the wires are just fine. because i swapped them with a different cylinder, and it works perfectly. i will see if i can get a stethescope from somewhere, but i just used my ear. i got really close to it, and i could hear it opening and closing. then i moved my ear down to the next injector, to make sure i wasnt hearing that one.

i think i found the problem. i switched injectors today, and the cylinder that has the supposed bad injector, did not fire. so it is the injector. does anyone know where to get some aftermarket injectors? thanks for all the help!

I dont know about aftermarket but toyota always has them and if you want to you could try a wrecking yard

i was searching the web, i found a web site named fuelinjectordirect has them for my st. i remaned from Napa was like $70, and new was like $160. brand new from a toyota dealership was like $240. the website has them for like $65, and they have a lifetime warrenty.
