Hello,

These kits have a few different spings, drill bits, & other micsellaneous parts that go in the valve body. This comes with 11 pages of instructions to make all of the modifications. All changes are just inside the pan, so it doesn't need to be out.

Hello, I'm new here and I have a 1993 Geo Prizm 7A-FE with the A245E transmission. I haven't found any good iinformation about that shift kit and someone suggested that I try asking about it here since I do have the same drivetrain as the '94 Celica and possibly some '95 Celicas. Does anyone here know anything about it or have any opinions?

This summer I am due to drop my trans pan and clean the filter/magnets and check the clutch packs and bands, I plan on doing this along with the 120K timing belt and putting on a new waterpump (I'm not sure how long they typically last on the 7a-fe but better safe than sorry I would think).

Welcome, some may flame you for posting w/o a Celica, but hey, at least you got the same engine as the ST. The 7A Celicas use a C52 transmission, but same 7AFE, and it is the same in all ST's be it a 94 or a 97 (didn't they stop making ST's in 98?). If this "Shifter Kit" is the real deal, then I would say try it, but with the price as low as it is, I wouldn't do it. If your transmission is slipping and getting ready to die, why not just replace it with another one like it.

If you want to try it, then do so, but I wouldn't trust myself doing anything like that. Thank god I have a Manual. tongue.gif

well when i emailed the seller asking more about it gave me the little snippet quoted below the ebay link.

it SEEMS to be some stiffer springs and larger passages to allow fluid to flow faster/in more volume and the springs to close the hydrolics faster.

my knowledge about the inner workings of the automatic is somewhat limited but with my GF's help (shes taken auto trans class, i havent yet) i could probably do the install. im just wary because thats a cheap price and the parts im messing with arent as cheap, nor is a new trans if something breaks off and grinds up into the fluid and ruins some bearings.



im pretty sure the automatic ST has the same transaxle that i do, the C52 is a 5spd toyota transaxle shared with the mr-2 and probably a few other toyotas.

it sounds like some type of scam, where they will sell you a little restrictor or something from a hardware store for 100bucks.

contact the seller...ask for pics of the actual product you are getting, exactly how it works and how its installed. if it sounds to good to be true......

This isn't really a shift kit in the normal sense. It's just instructions, tools. and stiffer springs to modify your valve body.

thanks, but im not sure what im reading in those links? the 2nd one doesnt load properly.


i'll email the seller again for pictures of the product, i couldnt find any anywhere.


also, thanks for helping out a non celica owner. even tho i dont own one i've always been a fan of them, i feel a little bad for the ST owners, my car is about as quick as a stock ST frown.gif

yea, the "kit" on ebay sounds like i'm modifying the valve body and changing some springs in some solenoids.

im starting to lean towards lagos on this, that its just $50 drill bit and a $58 book of directions. :lol:
