For the beams, you'll can use the tranny that comes with it (as long as it's coming from the ss3 celica), or i think u can use the celica gt tranny. im not sure if theyre the same. for the blacktop, u can use the tranny that comes with the levin, or im sure you can use the st's manual tranny also. c52, i think. and same with silver. best to turbocharge, silvertop, but you'd have to run really really low boost or put low comp pistons and god knows wat else to make it run porperly. to be honest, those engines are all meant to be NA... their compression ratios are all either 10.5:1 or above. not ideal for turboing. if u really want to turbo, i'd get the 3sgte, which is basically a beams with low comp pistons and a turbo. or a 4agze and remove the SC and put a turbo in, which is what mosst people in the 4a community do. or, turbo your 7a, but then again, im sure ventually you'll want more power. that tends to happen with a lot of the 7afte guys since that motor really has its limits, mainly cuz of head design. so i'd do a little more research. im getting a beams or blacktop in june and im leaving it NA and just doing headers intake exhaust. id love a turbo but its more maintenance. hope that helps. i might not be 100% on everything here, so dont quote me. lol.

What's up. I got a ST as well and I know that if you do a 4age swap you can keep your stock tranny. So, if you want to get more power and not spend 5 gs on a 3sgte this would be the idea swap. You can PM Doctor Tweak for more info. I asked him the same question away back and if you want I can forward his response to you. Good Luck!!! smile.gif

you definatly cant use the levin tranny for the 4age swap. you either need an mr2 tranny or your current tranny from the st.

as for better boosting the 3sge is a better bet, its definatly a more solid block and the extra displacement will yeild much greater spool time on a larger turbo.

its up to you,

3sge - bitch to tune vvt for turbo applications, but its going to yeild much more power.

4age - your going to seach the stratusphere for torque. but its going to be easier to put into an st.

If you want to turbo, then go with a 3sgte, or a 4agze. Those are boost motors. Good NA application is either the 4age, or 3sge. For the money, the 3rd gen 3sge and Silvertop 4age, seem to be the best. For an ST, it's recommended to stick with a 4age. They are good little motors from what I hear, and have a large aftermarket support.

you can use the levin tranny. would you need custom axles? maybe. but it can still be used.

The Silvertop tranny can be used, that is what I am currently using. Stock 7A axles will work fine (auto or manual axles are the same)

True, that's just the AE86 though. The Levin went on beyond the AE86. It's like the ST185 Celica's had pop up headlights, but not all Celica's have pop up headlights. I think it's the AE92 they are talking about, but I don't know those numbers very well.
