My 7afe engine gave out and I wanted to put in a 4age silvertop from Ebay. I might get a clip instead and I was wondering if you have to do anything special to the new engine in order to complete the swap. Could someone help me with the wiring if they have done the swap B4 and info on the parts that will work on it such as the timing belts, belts and ETC. What will I lose if I do the swap (AC, P/S, any)?

AND NO! THE SEARCH FEATURE DOES NOT HELP AT ALL!

Thanks everyone this should at least help me out!

well, the reason no one replied is because there are only a handful of people who have even tried this swap, and even less who could give any sort of knowledgable answer. Anyway, if you are still in need of help, you should PM Coomer directly. He pioneered this swap and is probably the one who knows the most about how to solve your problems.

Saw the pics in your profile! Looks great!! Good luck

Well good, you learned something yourself smile.gif

I never saw this or else I would have replied. Looks like you have a nice garage there... so is it up and running now?

He was mentioning earlier that he might have fried his ECU and is contemplating Megasquirt now. I'm heavily debating going Megasquirt now as well.

I dunno guys, Megasquirt is used to control only your fuel system nothing else. It won't control ignititon without the plug-on's and that raises the price of what your paying. Then there is the issue of VVT, which the MS will not be able to utilize. (at least that is what I understand from there website). I could go all out for the Wolf 3D AEM, but Im kinda really broke right now. That unit alone costs over $1.6K. Oh well perhaps i'll just go with another Ecu, but I am afraid that I might fry it too. All the wiring looks correct, however there is probbaly something wrong with the ECU in the first place.

Megasquirt wiring is very simple and there's not a lot to go wrong. I know a guy who can do plug/play harness using the stock ECU for ignition and megasquirt for fuel control... but if you're open to a challenge, Megasquirt can do ignition control as well, with the stock Dizzy or some other DIS system. The beauty of Megasquirt on the silvertop 20V is the tuneability factor, which the stock Toyota tuning is very lacking on the silvertop, and then there's the MAP sensor, which will allow you to run open ITBs.

Yeah, like Kwanza said, Megasquirt can control ignition. Many people run a Ford EDIS ignition setup on their twenty-valve 4A-GE motors. Kwanza is running one on his project.

sup guys,

well its been awhile for me on this site but my car is done. i have completed the 4age ST swap into my 95 st. i wired the oem ecu but i messed up something and burned it i think. so anyways turns out i had a couple hundred bux extra since i got hooked up on my motor. i now run Megasquirt II ver 3.0 with edis distributorless ignition. ITS SWEET.

oh and by the way vvt can be hooked up with megasquirt. there are so many different things i can do now that i would never have imagined. next comes the turbo, new paint, and sparcos.

watch out 3sgte, 4age is where the real power is
