I dont know why im losing coolant...no leaks.....every time i drive far(about 200 or so mile) the car starts to overheat. I always have the refill the radiator. And the resivior takes all the coolant but only spits it back in the radiator when it over heats. But when car over heats the coolant in the resivior boils up and starts spitting it out too...there's a little hole on the right side underneath the cap of the resivior(on the tube)....it looks factory to me....so im thinking its my thermostat...what do you guys think???

could be a number of things, the most severe being a blown head gasket. get a test kit that checks for exhaust gasses in the coolant. ask a local parts store they should know what i'm talking about. also, you could try doing a compression test of a leakdown test.
other things besides a blown head gasket (cylinder to waterjacket blown) could be a blockage in the radiator or a bad water pump. -------------------- |

Thermostats not on the resovoir, but that could be a miscommunication.
Are you noticing any white smoke out your tail pipe? Check your crankcase for milky-white substance and maybe change your oil too and take a look see if its contaminated. Compression test wouldnt hurt, and if all that checks out, could be ur thermostat gone bad. Did you have a leak and fix it with radiator fixer? Sometimes that clogs something it shouldnt and cause an interruption in flow. -------------------- |

i don't have a thermostat and i have same problem ......it checked my head gasket and it is fine ... .... i get leaks all over , sometimes the hoses even burst .....but they usually burst when i turn off the car !

I know the thermostat is not on the resovior...im just saying it might the thermostat...but i had my water pump changed begining of past winter so the water pump should be good...My radiator doesn't have leaks or leaks coming out from anywhere of the engine....when i start my car i see blue smoke for about 2 seconds then its gone but the gas smell is still there...any ideas??? |

Easy check. Take it to a garage where they can test the coolant system which would show up a potential HG problem - or get yourself a kit as Bitter has already suggested.
I would also make sure that the rad cap is okay too. If that is knackered, then it would hold pressure which could easily result in a leak when up to running temp. i say its a blocked radiator. u may also have a busted head gasket as a result of driving while overheating. i had the same problem just a week ago but now its all better and that was the problem

i have almost the same problem guys
when i drive a long time and i switched off the car i noticed water under my hood. after i checked the water level in reservoir it was down the normal line. i putted out the reservoir cleaned it and fill it water to see if it had a hole somewhere but it was ok after the second time this happed i noticed that the water came out was from reservoir.. i didnt find a solution yes.. do anybody has this problem before? -------------------- |
