It depends on what kind of bass your looking to get. JL is known for their deep bass. It's a good brand to get but I'm more about sound quality and I have Rockford Fosgate Punch Z's. I haven't had one single problem with these.

I know I am going to get ridiculed for this selection. But my brother has two 12'mtx thunder 6000's in his cherokee and they are very clean sounding.
IMO I would go with alpine type r's. I have heard very good things about these subs. Just remember , no matter what subs you get the amp wattage is a big part of how they sound, and be ready to fork out a pretty penny for a high wattage amplifier. |

JL is the best. I had 4 JL12W3 in my Celica with 2 Kicker Impulse amps pushing a total of 600 watts (300 watts each amp) and hit 158.6 db. Never had a problem with the speakers just the amps would over heat. I won't ever buy anything from Kicker again. I post some pics of my old system if I can find any.

Don't forget that the bigger the sub the further away from it you need to be to get the optimum sound. At 34" it will sound better outside of the car. As for the original question. You really need to get out and listen to a whole bunch of subs and see what sounds best to you. This post has been edited by AudioFreak: Jul 4, 2003 - 5:48 AM |

I have 2 10" JLs pushing 400 watts to at 4ohms and i have never had a problem with them at all I have had Kicker, and Pioneer and I will never Buy those again.
They hit hard they sound good so they got to be good huh! Oh one of my friends just got a set of 10" JLs and they are in single truck boxes and they sound like crap so when you get your box either get one made for it or get the powerwedge box for them. |

I got two 10 inch Pioneers. I can go alot bigger, but for 10 inch subs, they sound pretty damn good. Havent had any problems, and I guess you get the moneys worth with Pioneer. MY cousin has Pioneer everything in his house/car, and he has never had any kind of problem
