So lets say money is an object, that I personally value greatly. Let's also assume that I don't want to cut corners and would prefer send the work out......
A right hand drive Celica makes me wet... And a nice blow off is orgasmic... Would it be cheaper to get a Celi with a good body and then get a 205 half cut *if I could find one* and then have the 205 motor and RHD dealio put in or would it be cheaper to import the King Celica (GT-4)? Searching for prices, someone on this site said about 12 grand to import the 4... any truth to that? As far as a motor swap and a conversion goes, theres is a guy, Jeremy Blackwell, www.speedforsale.com , who dropped in a 2JZ into an S14 and did an RHD conversion.... I am looking for the best balance of quality and price.... the bang for the buck thing... Positive and/or informative oppinions only... thanks, in advance ***EDIT*** Doesn't matter if its AWD or FWD, long as its got a turbo and I gotta shift with the left hand This post has been edited by rudeboy3d: Jun 25, 2006 - 1:47 PM -------------------- 1987 Celica ST (RIP) 1st car too

the thing is if u import and its rhd it will be AWD, to convert using a front clip chances are if u want awd money is gonna be a huge issue, so therefore depending on importing, id import

AWD isn't that much of a factor to me. I've had an All-Trac and it was a unique driving experience. I was just wondering what would be cheaper. Probably should have mentioned that it doesn't matter about AWD or FWD. Heh, saw that sweet GT-4 down in New Zealand with the Lexus 4.0 and RWD. Talk about bad "arse"....

gt4s are not cheep. Looking at ebay/auctions in the uk converting pounds to dollars its usualy ending up being close to 13k-17k for a decent gt4. Plus importing one to the states and then after all the taxes and everything... Its not going to be cheep. 12k ..... youll need a little more than that.
If you really dont care too much for the awd. Getting a st205 clip and swapping everything over would be much cheeper. -------------------- BANNED!

I think I'd like a conversion better anyways, because AWD is fun and all, but I'm very content with a FWD.
Has anyone driven a RHD vehicle? I would think it would be hard as hell to drive, just the whole left hand shifting thing. I'm a right handed person, the way a person should be, so I think I'd struggle. It would seem weird making turns and just driving in general in the right seat on the right side of the road........ I did way too much cocaine today... sorry guys bang bang -------------------- 1987 Celica ST (RIP) 1st car too

Hey right hand drive is the 'correct hand drive' as far as i'm consired and i'm damned if i can get on with a lift hooker even in a left hand drive road system !!!!!!!! plus that how the celica and all Jap' cars where designed to be driven so your going for a pure breed ) yes mate right hand drive make very little difference in the long run, after a week you'll not evern notice the difference ( my wife went from a left hand drive to right hand drive and was cool in just 2 days!!!) -------------------- Life is for living, and you don't get a second chance Take care now !! |

importing is a pain in the neck. I'm not sure of how many people have done it. It ain't legal, unless you register as a show car, or race car, and there is all sorts of bizzare qualifications. I don't think you can legally get them street legal. not sure though...
If you want the real deal, then save up a lot of money for a gt-4. Otherwise, do they swap. Lot easier on the pocket book, and its legal too! -------------------- psalm 69 |
