omg.. this is the first time in my life i got scammed.. (@*&^(*@^#(*@(@%#*(^@%#O&@%#&@(#^&@(*#@%#@#

i was @ the local best buy to buy some packing peanuts to pack something i was shipping... then 2 guys in a red gmc van-like-suv came up to me with a whole bunch of audio equipment in the back showed me a Divinci D-6 audio system saying it was worth 3k... they even had a magazine showing it was worth 3k... they said their boss overloaded the truck w/o marking invoice and so they had a few extra systems which they sold.

I kept insisting i didn't want it and they wouldn't stop bothering me. the guy kept talking some more stuff, saying he sold a few before me and showed me a wad of cash... i dunno y.. that bastard just kept talking and showed me an open box sample.. and somehow... i became gullable and fell for it >< ended up wasting $400CAD

i'm banging my head against my desk right now for being so stupid and falling for such a cheap trick.. i should've saw it coming when they said the kicker amp in their car was worth 1k... @(*&(*!@^%(!*^%(@*!^%@(*!%@(&!^%(*&@^%@

i tried calling a few friends during this and no1 was home.. then after i called another friend and the first thread he found was this:

i guess @ least the boxes aren't empty... i just hope they actually work... since i read they are utter CRAP... i guess if they do work i'll just use them... to remind me not to be so greedy and gullable in the future =(

i guess i jsut got greedy... forgot the old saying if it's too good to be true, it probably is...

in the back of my mind i kept thinking thinking @ most they would be stolen.. i didn't expect they'd just be utter crap >< dammit...

i ahve the guy's cell fone #.. is there anything i can do? or would the police just say "hey, u paid for it and u got the product... nothing we can do"

That sucks buddy.

I might call the cops, tell them the story, print out a couple pages from the scam website. If the cops are on your side, they might help. Tecnically the guys aren't breaking the law much, but police might be able to give them ticket for resale without license or other stuff- if you can convince the cops these guys are losers.

UGH! I hate when you find crap like that out AFTER the fact. It's like "okay, why was NOBODY home when it was going down?!?!"

I'm sorry man, but I have no idea what the cops would do about it, either. I wouldn't bother here because our police force isn't worth even the buttons on their uniforms, but I guess it's really up to you. No harm in trying?

How much did you buy? 400 doesn't seem like too much if you got a lot of stuff...

the cops wont help, there is no proof that it was ever purchased from them, and even worse it was done in cash. There are no resell laws on 90% of electronics (its mainly on food, if you look you'll see "not for resale") The best thing you can do is hope you wrote down the license plate, pay the $30 and run the tag, find the bastards and have you fun with em.

apparently this scam is all over north america... and they actually had a news report on it once... but i don't have tv @ res so i guess that's why i never found out =(... the cops only gave them a ticket... since it's nothing really illegal

the bastard kept saying since he gave me such a good deal to 'treat him good' if i ever see him @ a bar or something... if i see him at a bar.. for sure i'll treat him 'well'

it's a 5.1 home theatre system btw...

Lol a couple years ago i fell for the exact same scam except it was for home audio speakers, I ended up down $120 and I was so embarassed. Don't worry though, remember there is always a lesson to be learned from these things.

Two guys in a yellow hummer followed me into a gas station to try and do this to me. I knew it was a scam so I just kept telling them that their speakers were stolen. They were getting so pissed. I laughed and told them I was calling the cops for bothering me and they left in a hurry.

that same crew show up in Maryland driving a white suv, they comb parking lots looking for people and asking if they want to buy some speakers. Sorry you got burned , good post to give everyone a heads up dont buy anything off the street.

Two guys in a black suburban tried that with me when I came out of the back like a month ago, I didn't pay much attention to it, but another guy behind me heard the offer and went for it. Surprise those two guys were cops

the guys appeard in the local news paper and Paid a 1,000 fine for buying stolen stuff.

this has happened to me hundreds of times, they always come out every friday, and usually hang around big stores or banks.

i tell all of them to **** off, and get in my car.

lmao now that i think of it, i ran into some people like that once in bellflower i think it was.

they was like hey you want a home theater system???? all up in their white tahoes or surburbans

i was like naww i got mine and turned up the subs lol, this happened at a washington mutual i think.

there was other cars too, like 3 cars going around selling stuff.

lol i dont even bother with those cause i know i never have money.

I feel bad for you man, lesson learned!

Those guys are all over, I had 1 come up to me at a gas station. I said to him "I heard about you on the 'net." He got an attitude with me, I took down his plate and he sped off. I called the police right away and made a report with the plate. Sucka!

Same **** happens here too......I've been stopped like that about 4 times and I know now what to do with this guys......just tell them u only got 20$ and they'll live u alone.....A friend of mine got scammed like that......he bought a laptop for like 300$ but when he opened the box there were a couple of YellowPages inside
