my gas pedal seems to stick, and takes a little more force to push it down initially. i thought it might be the spring on the throttle body that was sticking, but i oiled that with some WD40, and it didn't work. i don't think it is the throttle cable itself because this doesn't happen when the car is off, only when it is running.
does anybody have any idea why this is happening? |

um, kink/pinch in the cable itself maybe? is it fine if you push the thorttel open by hand? if so then its an issue with the pedel or spring on the pedel.

it doesn't stick when the car is off. it only sticks when it is running, that's why i don't think that it's an issue with the cable itself

hmm. its a long shot but do you have cruise control? exsplane sticks a little better maybe, does it just stick in up and hard to push down like you have to kinda shove it to get it lose or is it a constant when the motor is running, I dont really know though. its not gana be a spring if its just when the car is running, kinda why I would look at the cc, even though I highly doubt it would have anything to do with it. I dont know what all the cable goes though that could cause it to stick a bit.

QUOTE(dan85204 @ Aug 1, 2006 - 6:28 AM) my gas pedal seems to stick, and takes a little more force to push it down initially. i thought it might be the spring on the throttle body that was sticking, but i oiled that with some WD40, and it didn't work. i don't think it is the throttle cable itself because this doesn't happen when the car is off, only when it is running. does anybody have any idea why this is happening? Mine did that but it mostly stuck after I was sitting at a light for a few minutes. It RARELY stuck while I was cruising and then tried to accelerate a little more. It felt like there was a brick or something under the gas pedal and then you push harder and VROOM, you take off. I'm not sure the cause but I took it to the Toyota dealer and they fixed it for like 80 bucks. |

no i don't have cruise control, i have a manual transmission.
by "stick" i mean that it takes a little more force to make the pedal move down at first. then it releases and the engine revs up really high because after the first initial push, it's normal. it's kinda annoying when you're trying to shift gears and people are around because it looks as though i'm still learning to drive manual. |
