Hello! I am a newcomer to your group, a proud, brand new owener of a '98 Celica convertible (all of three weeks!)

Unfortunately I seem to already have a problem! My brake lights have suddenly stopped working. All of them. Now, when I turn on the headlights, they glow like they're supposed to, but nothing when I'm braking.

I went by autozone and the terribly nice fellow there checked my fuses, and they were all good. He looked around the trunk wiring, but nothing looked out of sort. So right now my DH (known to you all as jpoc) is looking for that switch under the brakes (I have no idea what that means but the autozone guy and jpoc do) and seeing what he can find. But we've only had the car a few weeks, and haven't even gotten any manuals or anything, so any guidance you can offer would be most appreciated!

Thanks,

natasha42

okay so nevermind, jaypoc got it all worked out. it was that switch under/behind the pedals. the connections were all corroded and stuff, and he cleaned it up and it works now. yay!

i think we have the same thing going on with the switch for one of tha back windows. it goes down, but has difficulty going back up, I have to fiddle with it to make it work.

also, a bonus to this is that we figured out what was making a very annoying squeaking sound. One of the taillights was attached by only one screw, and we were able to correct that. oh happy day!

thanks to celica power for offering a suggestion. we were able to find other info on other threads in the forum. it's great to have a resource like 6gc.net!
