Ok I don't really know for sure if my motor's shot because it clicks and pushes the window up, but going down it does nothing... Could my motor be shot one way?

the window is cable driven, and if that wire frays is may cause a similar reaction.
as far as i know toyota only sells that system in two parts... motor and window regulator, possibly the casing the motor bolts into is a seperate part. here is a walkthrough for changing the regulator if that will help you any Link This post has been edited by Stu37363: Aug 26, 2006 - 9:07 PM |

Well the problem is u know when u roll up and down ur window the lights dim usually...
Well the lights dim when i try and roll it up, and i hear the clicking of the motor, but when i roll it up i hear nothing and no lights dim... think it might be the switch? |

maybe the switch... when mine went bad it was a frayed cable. I got the whole assembly from a junk yard, I can't imagine it being seperate. If you feel comfortable pull your door panel and wtach what it does, that should answer your question right away.

so you didn't see any damage to the cable? Is it like a binding click or more the like the sound of a bad starter?

pull apart the actual switch....I had it happen to me a few months ago where my pass. side window would roll down but was off/on for rolling up, sometimes not at all! turns out i looked in the pass. side window switch and the contact was competely fried. I had to get a replacement from the dealer --- $75 for just the pass. side switch. Better hope its not the driver side, I think that one went for at least $150.......
