if that thing were like $500 less and any color other than arrest-me red, it'd be pretty sweet. you can't have arrest-me red beaters. that color and the term "beater" are mutually exclusive. heh.

that's a st165 3sgte on a 88-89 GT Celica.. i was gonna go that route with my old 89 GT-S but ended up slipping and totalled the car.
anyway.. i find those old celicas heavy for some reason but have very good handling, better than my 6th gen.. and those things rust like crazy! i'm surprised how clean it is.. plus it's a convertible. anyway, i find it a little overpriced for it to be used as a 'beater'. -------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

I had one for two years, I loved the car, no mechanical problems at all, but there was nothing I could do to save it from selling it, I had rust everywhere; lucky me I sold the car to another 4th gen lover that needed some parts so I got 800 dollars for it. $ 4,000.00 is too much for that car specially since you don't know in what shape the motor is + to find parts for that engine is HARD. no a good beater. -------------------- |

Yeah, i agree with you all on it being a lil to pricey to be a true beater, I meant it more in the sense that any car thats almost 20 years old if not restored is always pretty much a beater then... but cool idea nonetheless

IMO, I'd buy it. It hasn't started to rust in the typical 4th gen spots, and the trunk lid is still level with the rest of the body (the truck supports go out on the 4th gen coupes and cause the lid to bend).
Not a bad price for a swapped 4th gen, since the car with the regular 3S-FE could get around 1,500-1,700 in that type of condition. -------------------- -Tom
