I am looking (window shopping, from a linux box no less.. *ponder*) into saving up for some suspension. I have heard mixed reviews on Tien Coilovers ( http://www.optionimports.com/zzt231flta2.html ) and in fact coilovers in general.. Admitedly I do not know much about suspension at all so I am kind of just looking into what all it would take / how long / how much..
What kind of suspension do yall have? How happy are you with it? I really have 2 goals with getting some suspension: 1: Naturally most important is preformance. Reliability and low maintnence are a plus. I have noticed a bit of a sloppy feeling cornering at 40 - 50... I want to say body roll but I dont know if thats the right term, almost feels like kind of a pivot. I hate it. 2: Because as we all know the Celi is a hot hothothot ride, looks matter.. I was thinking here my goal is to drop my ride about an inch and get some 7th gen 16" rims. Would that fly? Anything to consider here? Any / all feedback, comments etc welcome and encouraged. Is there anything else I should be considering in the equation for getting suspension? Thanks. -Jimi |

First off, if you really want to get into suspension, your best bet is too read the stickies in the suspension forum and do some searching in the suspension specific forum. You will learn ALOT just by reading those and allow yourself to make 10 times better purchases. Thats where i started anyways and i would recommend it. I have intrax springs, which like teins, are really high quality springs. I have them on celica GT-S rims. Keep in mind, you need shocks to match your springs. Not brand, but if you go to low you really shouldnt get KYB's since they are just replacments. Go aftermarket.

if coilovers are an option financially, you'll be really happy with them. they'll give you both ride height adjustment and better handling.
personally, i don't have alot of money (or i'd be all over your teins, purplegt4!) so i'm going for the koni yellows with the tein springs i'm already using now. they're externally adjustable, which is really important for handling performance. and they're half the price of coilovers. i may end up switching to a higher spring rate if the teins don't provide the feel i want with the konis. that's the downfall of struts/coils....you have to change springs. that's my .02 hitcachi is totally right...the stickies will tell you alot. -------------------- do you know who i am, mr. worley? |

God I love this site. Thanks for the input.
After talking to one of my homeboys who is into turbo bricks, he came up with this: http://uranian.geekgalaxy.com/celly.pdf Let me know what yall think about that. VS the Tien coilovers it is almost the same price with a lot more. I will again admit that I am a computer geek, a DJ, and a few other things but cars are a pretty new interest of mine. Anyway, if you all have a bit glance at that and get at me with thoughts / comments / flames / whatever. EZ -Jimi |

^ If you've got the money, then koni's are great shocks and the eibachs are another high quality spring that alot of members on here are using. Are you going to be doing the work yourself?

stiffer sway bars will take care of body roll. lowering springs/shocks are your best bet. kyb's are okay, better are agx's or tokiko, even better are koni yellow. eibach prokits drop 1" i think, tein goes 1.5" fr, 0.5" rr.
