so i got my car back after my mechanic changed the timing belt but now i can hear this weird noise when the rpm's increase say when i push my gas pedal. It is a high pitched sound. actually my 5fse engine sounds like it had 200 horse power now smile.gif. Well guys any ideas about what could be wrong? maybe an overtighten belt. I know i should take my car back to my mechanic but i just want some opinions so if he lies to me and try to make some more on me saying..... ohhhh well this is wrong is gonna cost you now this much..i can reply with an intelligent answer. To be honest a just expended 450 dollars on this timing belt job and don't wanna expend more.

What else was changed?
Tensioner?
Water pump?
Idler pulley?

It could be one of those.
Or it could just be a loose alt or pwr steering belt....

well it was changed:

timing belt.
water pump with full housing(oem).
all seals related to this job.
alternator and a/c belt.
and something else looks lake a bearing but with "teeth" if you know what i mean.

Maybe some of your belts arent tight enough...just my opinion....

right it is a pinion......it goes some place in the camshaft and holds the timing belt, the mechanic said that the one changed wasn't the original part so he had to heat and remove the old one by force. i was thinking about overtighten belts or the timing belt could be slipping.

This is definately a Belt Tensioner problem. I took my car to the shop after my Timing Belt broke loose (luckily there is no head damage) and I had the SAME problem after they changed it! I had my boi look at it since he is an auto mechanic and he said without a doubt the Belt Tensioner is bad. I jsut kept driving it. I plan on changing it soon but I'm too lazy and always buying aftermarket stuff instead of technical parts.

ok so just in case the problem is the belt tensioner or tensioners what would be the risk if don't fix that right away? would the timing belt brake loose if i don't repair the tensioners?

When I changed my timing belt i discovered my alternator was gone. Now the crappy autozone one whines. So I guess you could check that

a squeal is probably a loose belt. i'm guessing alternator or power steering. either way you should be able to tighten it up no problem.

If any of the parts were overtourq you will have noise bearings

I agree. You said that they replaced your alternator belt, well some belts (depending on the manufacturer) need to be re-tightened after they have been run awhile.

I havent changed my belts but im getting a weird noise coming from the engine. Its kind of like a mix between a squeaky door and a forklift beep. Usualy happens after a day of driving, i;ve only heard it at night so far the last 2 days.

i have the exact same problem right now. my dad tells me that the timing belt is simply offset and needs to be aligned corrected. i guess i wasnt at TDC when i put it on.

well guys i haven had time to take my car back to the mechanic but now besides the weird noise i have this rubber burning smell like coming out my hood. Could this smell be one of the belts? now the sound is more like a high pitched sound.....weird

Ok guys! took my car to the mechanic and he took a look at the timig belt said that the belt looks good and that he changed the tensioner which was the pinion i talked about before. the answer he gave me about the weird noise is that the belt needs to strech out a little so that would take care of it. The rubber burning like smell is a leaking radiator so i am looking for one right now. the crack is really small so do you think i can use an epoxy patty to fix it for now?. Do you recommend any radiator's brand or should i go oem or koyo? i heard about silla radiators. are they any good?

hey all

i've got the same problem as you!

after getting my timing belt changed at 100000 it started making a sound... so i took it straight back to the mechanic and he told me that it was because the belt was still being stretched...

it's now on 116000 and the sound is still there... i don't know what to do.. but i think i've driven it too far to take it back to complain...

if you have only just got the problem i think you should seriously get it checked out...
